Description

The Pinot Noir from Holm Oak has been a house staple for many Tassie Pinot lovers and the same could be said for this top-value Chardonnay from Rebecca Duffy and her team.

It gives everything you want in cool-climate Chardonnay: elegance, precision, and a general freshness to the palate that is difficult to achieve in warmer regions.

We think it's some of the best money you can spend on Chardonnay in Tasmania right now. Great drinking for a great price.

"Oh, I do like this excellent Chardonnay which embraces three clones from two vineyards. Everything pretty much happened naturally with gentle pressing to 30% new and the remainder one to four-year-old oak. Fragrant florals with a mix of vanilla bean and spices complement the peachy melon characters. It’s a gentle wine that builds relentlessly through the palate to a sustained finish. The mouthfeel is exquisite with fine acid and fine-grained oak sitting perfectly. A super wine."

    Very nice

    Good drop

This is an elegant, refined cool climate Chardonnay. The nose displays aromas of citrus fruit, apricot kernel and white peach with spicy integrated oak, whilst the palate has lovely textural richness as a result of malolactic fermentation extended time on lees, however it finishes with fine, minerally acidity.

Goes well with pork
The rich lusciousness of this chardonnay matches really well with full flavoured Tasmanian pork, and there is enough acidity in the wine to cleans the palate after eating that delicious crackling!

Winemaking notes
The fruit for this wine was picked when the flavour profile was in the citrus/nectarine spectrum. Three clones of Chardonnay from two separate blocks were used to make this wine. The fruit was gently pressed to tank and allowed to settle for 24 hours prior to being racked to barrel (30% new French oak and 70% 1-4 year old). The wine underwent 100% natural fermentation, and 50% malolactic fermentation. The wine was then matured in oak for 9 months with occasional lees stirring to enhance texture and mouthfeel.
