Description

Alex Head's Head GSM is fresher take on a classic Barossan Grenache blend, focusing on perfume, drinkability, and offering great value.

Alex's passion for contemporary Barossa wines shines through in this blend. He collaborates with small, sustainable growers, sourcing grapes from some of the region's oldest vineyards, up to 100 years old.Β

The Grenache offers vibrant fruit, Shiraz adds dried herb notes, and Mataro brings spice and tannin, creating a harmonious blend with plush fruit, fresh acidity and a long, spicy finish.

This is a versatile mid-week slurper, perfect with pizza, pasta, or on its own. As with all of Alex's wines, it delivers superb value, and an honest taste of the Barossa through a modern lens.

91+ points - "A Barossa/Eden Valley blend of 65/25/10/% grenache/mataro/shiraz; 10% whole bunch. Crimson with a flash of magenta and characters of damson plum, dried cherries and blueberries, with hints of mixed spice, citrus blossom, cold tea, charcuterie, amaro and earth. Juicy, bright and medium bodied, with bright fruit, fine tannin and vivid sour cherry acidity." - Dave Brookes (Halliday Wine Companion)

A cracking year for Grenache in the Barossa! Here, we pick on the cusp of ripeness with some whole-bunches retained during the fermentation. The Grenache components are sourced from up to five different vineyards across the Barossa Valley, all aged between 60 and 80 years old. The shiraz component is from the Eden Valley giving dried herb aroma and the Mataro is sourced from a 60 year old block in Nuriootpa on sandy soils for spice and tannin. 93Pts Ken Gargett WINEPILOT

Head Wines

Alex Head has had what you might call a meteoric rise through the Australian wine industry. In his short career as a producer he has been heralded as one of the best Young Gun Winemakers, not only in the Barossa but the whole country.

With no formal training as a winemaker, the purity and balance inherent in the wines are amazing.

Alex has a passion for the old vineyards that populate the Barossa. With a keen eye for a good site, Alex has put together a formidable portfolio of vineyards which produce simply outstanding renditions of Shiraz and Grenache year-in, year-out. These are some of the most exciting wines in the Barossa.

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone β€” no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
