Description

The formidable powers of Riesling from all corners of Tasmania are put to good and fascinating use here. And, of course, it just wouldn't be a Dr. Edge wine without a little funk... And funk, it has...

It's an equal blend of Pete Dredge's North, South and East Rieslings, bottled unfiltered with some residual sugar.

A whopping nine months on lees and a little lazy time in some old barrels has put some weight on the skeletal Tassie Riesling frame. Yes, there are all the classic steel and citrus notes, but there's an extra layer of savouriness in this wine takes it to a transcendently weird level.

As always with the wines of the good Doctor, there aren't many bottles around. Grab one while you can.

"Green apple, lemon squash, chamomile, ginger, something just a little stony/earthy. It’s juicy, again the lemon squash thing as a distinct flavour, plenty of powdered rock to texture a slight quinine bite on a finish of excellent length. Very good, and as ever, an interesting style of Riesling offering a point of difference."

The Real Review 95 Points

Mid-straw and bright in the glass. Lifted and fragrant aromas of fuzzy peach, tangelo pith, white lily, bees wax and lime leaf. The palate has real concentration, drive and line. Flavours of stone fruit, citrus and a touch of creaminess delivers a palate of real complexity, poise and flow.

    Best Riesling

I like Riesling, but I'm disappointed a lot of the time. This Reisling is near perfection for me. There is a lot going on in this wine, yet it retains its smashability. It could turn me into a white wine drinker?

    Excellent

Excellent fruit, and perfect sugar balance, wonderfull cool climate wine

Dr Edge Tasmania Riesling is a blend of Derwent Valley, Tamar Valley & Coal River Valley fruit. Pressed to clay amphora, old French oak casks and stainless steel, the juice is fermented naturally, matured for 6 months on lees and blended to bottle with a small amount of residual sugar. The amphora contains a small amount of whole clusters for texture. Bottled without fining.

Dr. Edge

Peter Dredge is Dr. Edge. He is one of the most intuitive and talented winemakers on the Apple Isle.

With a wealth of experience garnered at wineries such as Bay of Fires, he has revitalised the Meadowbank label and returned it to its place as one of the must-watch vineyards in Tasmania.

Dr. Edge is his passion project where he can take risks and make Pinot Noir, Chardonnay & Riesling that truly excites him. His creativity can fly under the Dr. Edge banner and wines that walk a fine line of tension, funk and freshness invariably arise.

Only small batches of wine is produced, all made by hand, and typically they sell out in short order. Playful, pleasurable and remarkably thoughtful, the Dr. Edge creations are riveting things to drink and have rightfully earned cult status among collectors of Tasmania's finest.
