Description

Peter Graham farms the oldest Nebbiolo vines in Beechworth, grown in a cool, protected pocket on the southern corner of the Domenica estate. They produce tiny yields, which is exactly what Nebbiolo needs to build the fruit intensity and structural depth that makes it worth the wait.

The winemaking is unhurried and traditional. Gentle handling from picking through a long, slow ferment, gravity-filled into large old botte, then left to sleep for a few years before release. It's a process that suits the variety perfectly.

The 2024 vintage was shaped by a late spring frost that hit the Nebbiolo vines hard, cutting yields well below their already-modest norm. What that left behind was a wine of natural density and quiet depth, with amplified, fruit-driven aromatics and an early approachability that isn't typical for this wine. The warmth of the long ripening season helped too. But don't be fooled by how accessible it is now.

Cellaring is where the real reward is. This will develop into a confident, structured wine of real power given time. Extremely limited and extremely good.

Domenica holds the oldest Nebbiolo vines in Beechworth, producing a classic and age worthy wine. The estate Nebbiolo is grown in a cool, protected pocket on the southern corner of the property. Tiny yields per vine develop the intensity of fruit required to make Nebbiolo with beautiful structure, and a deep complex core of fruit.

Spring of 2024 saw a late widespread frost significantly affecting the Estate Nebbiolo vines. While the vines naturally recover from this, yields were heavily reduced, leading to a much smaller volume of wine produced.

The remaining growing season was relatively benign, with adequate rain through summer, then dry and warm through the long ripening phase. Harvest took place in mid-April, as is usual for our Nebbiolo.

As a result of the low yield, the wine has a natural density and quiet depth. Aromatically the fruit is amplified, and while currently the primary driver of the wine, it can be expected to mature into a confident and classic wine of structure and power. The low yield fruit intensity along with the warmth of the ripening season has ensured early approachability, but the greatest rewards from this wine will undoubtedly come from time in the cellar.

Domenica

Peter Graham is one of Beechworth's most thoughtful and talented winemakers. From his small plot of land on the Beechworth "Golden Mile", Pete crafts articulate and powerful wines with a gentle hand.

He farms his vineyard organically, though uncertified, with great care. The quality of fruit it yields is first class. In the winery, everything is moved via gravity. Patience is a virtue that Pete definitely possesses. No wine is released until it's 'ready'.

The Nebbiolo is one of the country's benchmarks. The Chardonnay is always in high demand given Pete's history as assistant winemaker at Giaconda. The Shiraz is the very model of modern Australian Shiraz; a wine with both power and refinement.

As Mike Bennie once noted:"If you’re into the new wave of truefine wine producers of Australia you should be onto, should get onto, Domenica. Classics in the making. Rising high."

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
