Description

The Corymbia Red Blend is a wine that you won't find anywhere else in Australia. This hails from "Rocket's Vineyard", Rob Mann's father's vineyard in the Swan Valley that Rob himself helped plant as a boy in the 1980s. This year, sees 52% Temp married to 48% Malbec.

With a combination of natural and carbonic fermentation, there is a lovely interplay between the dark and dense tones – blackberry, coffee, olive, earth, leather – and the extremely bright ones – mulberry, cranberry, blueberry, and aniseed. It's a Tempranillo that has actual shape and structure, and importantly, immense drinkability.

This is not a typical varietal blend but has worked from this site so consistently over the last decade or so. It's an idiosyncratic wine and one of our favourites in all of WA wine.

Whether you drink it now or in a few years, you're definitely in for a treat.

"Initially reticent but opens up to deliver bright red fruits. Cherry, plum. Quince. Black strap licorice and dried flowers. A little rubbed sage. Beautiful energy and freshness, a restrained opulence. The sheened flow is corralled and made gritty and granular by beautifully toothsome tannins."
- Nick Ryan (The Australian)

"A stony and ferrous quality, a sooty feel to tannin, with a lively finish of excellent length. Distinctive and very good."

94 points - "Blackberry, blackcurrant, liquorice, dark chocolate, ginger biscuits, dried roses and tea. It’s medium-bodied, lots of dried herb and dark chocolate, black cherry, crisp acidity, a stony and ferrous quality, a sooty feel to tannin, with a lively finish of excellent length. Distinctive and very good." - Gary Walsh (The Wine Front)

93+ points - "An almost half-half blend of the two varieties from this significant patch of Swan Valley dirt. A rollicking, fruity, spicy, dark and chewy number that does great justice to the warmth of the region while offering a cooler refrain from there. Deep, forest berry fruitiness, jammy and fresh, with dashes of cinnamon spice, rosemary herbal inflection, choc-licorice and riffs of pumice-stone–like tannin shaping it all into a crunch and chew. Lush, lovely and warming and yet with balance an inherent motif. Delicious drinking." - Mike Bennie (Halliday Wine Companion)

93 points - "The 2024 Rocket's Vineyard Tempranillo Malbec is excellent, and this is coming from someone who cannot be counted as one of Tempranillo's top fans. In this case, an exception will be made. Here, the tannins endemic to the variety have been tamed and smoothed in place, while the juicy core of the Malbec makes the wine vibrant from within. This is attractive, supple, structural and spicy, with layers of complexity that linger through the finish. Corymbia is one of the Swan Valley's most exciting producers, and I find their approach to both winemaking and viticulture to be holistic and thorough. It shows in the excellent wines that they produce. 13.8% alcohol, sealed under screw cap." - Erin Larking (The Wine Advocate)

Elegant top-notch blend

Temp is not my thing but marrying it with Malbec’s rusty sinewy tannin tames the heady cola notes of the former (with no sign of the dreaded sarsaparilla). Floral, dark fruited and with savoury hints. The tempered rich palate is the hero for mine. Densely packed yes, but with powdery fine tannin. Elegant for Swan Valley. Tasted best out of a Riedel tulip shaped ‘Hermitage’ glass.

Yep, this classic Glenn Frey 80’s track was the soundtrack for our Swan Valley grape vines in 2024. Everything in the vineyard centred around keeping enough leaf cover to protect the fruit from the warmest, driest and earliest vintage since records began in 1922. The record early harvest did mean we avoided much of the excess heat that came in late summer, and we think the wines fit neatly into a tightly tailored suit ready for an ensemble performance at the grammy's so keep an eye out for them!

A field blend of 52% Tempranillo and 48% Malbec; the certified organic grapes were hand harvested on the same day. The fruit was then individually berry sorted and combined prior to carbonic maceration and natural co-fermentation in a single French oak vat. Maturation followed in two seasoned French oak demi muids for 10 months.

An aromatic pop of cherry, blueberry and Chinese five spice jumps from the glass. Medium bodied with pomegranate, cocoa and squid ink umami which fill the palate, whilst soft gravelly tannins drive home a crunchy, vibrant, juicy, fleshy, turgid, lip smacking and moreish finish!

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
