Description

This carefully crafted red is made predominantly of Sangiovese, but Alex McKay adds in tiny quantities of other traditional Tuscan varieties, too, just for good measure.

The result is a lively, energetic drop with super drinkability. The spiced red-fruited goodness entwined with a firm savouriness produces the perfect table wine.

It's everything you’d dream of from these Italian varietals, but coming to you from the Canberra district. Take a trip to Tuscany with a single sip - it’ll have you saying molto bene.

"Easy to gauge a wine’s quality and deliciousness by the fact I kept sipping this thinking, 'gosh I like it'. The glass kept emptying before sentences were written here! Point is, this is drinking brilliantly now."

95 points - "Easy to gauge a wine’s quality and deliciousness by the fact I kept sipping this thinking, 'gosh I like it'. The glass kept emptying before sentences were written here! Point is, this is drinking brilliantly now. A vibrant red hue with heady aromas of wood smoke (peaty almost), new leather and warm earth. There’s a core of tangy, juicy cherry flavour infused with woodsy spices and fleshy ripe plums with a dusting of cocoa. The raw-silk tannins add texture across the mid-weighted palate. The juicy acidity (and there's plenty of it) holds all the parts together, leaving an excellent refreshment factor." - Jane Faulkner (Halliday Wine Companion)

Collector

Alex Mckay was born and raised around the Canberra District. After catching the winemaking bug while working under the trailblazing Edgar Riek at Lake George Winery, Alex started his own label, Collector, in 2005.

He has become one of the region's most important small producers, with a suite of elegant Shiraz, piercing cool climate Chardonnay and an excellent selection of alternative varieties, particularly those of Italian origin.

There's a quiet confidence and composure you can sense in every glass of Collector wines. With terrific reviews and very modest prices, they represent much of what is great about the modern Canberran wine scene.

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
