Description

Stella Bella’s Suckfizzle white is one of the more distinctive takes on the Margaret River Sauvignon Blanc Semillon blend – built from a single site down south in Augusta, where the cooling sea breeze and long growing season bring a real sense of freshness and bite.

The 2023 vintage is all about tension and texture. Sauvignon Blanc leads the charge, bringing zesty acidity and plenty of citrus drive, while Semillon adds that extra layer of weight and savoury detail. There's a little oak in the mix too – not to dominate, just to round things out. It’s punchy and precise, with that mix of salt, citrus and structure that makes it such a smart food wine.

As usual, this is built to last. It’ll age into something really layered and complex if you’re patient, but it’s already great with anything that lives in or around the ocean.

"Lime and pink grapefruit, flinty and chalky... lime mezcal margarita character... sure to age well."
- Gary Walsh (The Wine Front)

93+ points
"Cassis, green apple, finger lime, lemongrass... a little sweaty, curry leaf and enoki mushroom... this will prove to be an exceptional wine in time."
- Erin Larkin (The Wine Advocate)

93 points
"Toasted barley, lemon pith and hazelnut... tightly wound... loaded with flavour, precision and power."
- Gabrielle Poy (The Real Review)

"Papayas, snow peas and star fruit... perfumed tropical fruit character and a cool, delicious finish."
- Claire Nesbitt (JamesSuckling.com)

95 points - "Such a good wine with its smoky charm, texture and savoury palate thanks to some parcels of fruit fermented in barrel with regular lees stirring. It’s a contained wine though, as nothing is overt or dominating, with great balance of fruit to acidity and phenolics. It’s delicious, complex and compelling." - Jane Faulkner (Halliday Wine Companion)

95 points - "The unlikely friendship between feisty Sauvignon Blanc and laid-back Semillon is captured beautifully here. Upfront gooseberry, cut grass, lantana and a splash of passionfruit pulp with quieter notes of citrus bring the traditional Bordeaux white blend alive. The youthful vibrancy is well-weighted with an easy textural flow and discreet acid drive. Quince, lemon and a pear skin dryness are woven into the fabric of the wine. There’s good concentration, depth and – such is the balance – super food friendly properties. The Bordeaux white blend when it is on song is one of the more surprising, easy to please wines when it comes to food matching that you will ever come across." - Jeni Port (Wine Pilot)

94+ points - "Lime and lime rind, snow pea, jalapeño, quince, and some vanilla and biscuit spice, with flinty and smoky top note. It’s tight and juicy, plenty of flavour here, lime and pink grapefruit, lots of flint and grip to texture, with heaps of zip and tang on a finish of excellent length. There’s something a lime mezcal margarita character about it, which lends something of a saline and exotic touch. A very good vintage for this wine, and it’s sure to age well." - Gary Walsh (The Wine Front)

93+ points - "The 2023 Suckfizzle Sauvignon Blanc Semillon leads with cassis, green apple, finger lime, lemongrass, white pepper and cucumber. The wine is a little sweaty, with fresh curry leaf and enoki mushroom. This is a wine that ages very well indeed, and it always appears, to my palate at least, to be a little rambunctious on the oak/winemaking front on release. This is no exception; however, with the backing and endorsement of the 2023 season under its belt, this will prove to be an exceptional wine in time." - Erin Larkin (The Wine Advocate)

93 points - "Toasted barley, lemon pith and hazelnut aromas tempt the nose. The palate is tightly wound, flecks of citrus, grassy notes and sweet spices emerging from the nestled core. It's loaded with flavour, precision and power though it's embryonic at the moment. Time in the cellar will reward greatly. It's impressive." - Gabrielle Poy (The Real Review)

93 points - "Papayas, snow peas and star fruit on the nose of this fragrant white. It’s medium- to full-bodied with perfumed tropical fruit character and a cool, delicious finish. Drink now. Screw cap." - Claire Nesbitt (JamesSuckling.com)
