Description

Sourced from the biodynamically farmed estate vineyard in Tasmania’s Derwent Valley, this is a wine built for the long haul, balancing intensity, structure, and elegance in a way that only Tasmania can.

Steve and Monique Lubiana craft this Pinot with aging in mind. The wine is densely structured, packed with fine, persistent tannins and bright natural acidity that keep everything in perfect tension. The nose is layered and complex, unfolding with dark cherry, wild strawberry, and crushed spice, while the palate carries a striking depth - deep fruit, subtle earthiness, and a silky, drawn-out finish.

Right now, it’s firm, brooding, and tightly wound, but time will bring out its true colours. A few more years in the cellar will see it soften and evolve, but if you’re opening a bottle early, give it a solid decant and let it breathe. Either way, this is a serious Tasmanian Pinot, made with purpose and built to last.

"Deeply perfumed with aromas of dark cherries, kirsch, dried herbs and orange peel. The palate is textural with finely integrated tannins and bright acidity, giving notes of Damson plums, cocoa beans, wet bark, amaro liqueur and graphite. Wonderfully constructed from three biodynamically farmed estate blocks. Drink or hold."

"Bright ruby in the glass with aromas of flint-struck dark and red cherry fruits along with plum and macerated summer berry fruits. Seemingly a little more aromatic concentration than the '22 release, underlined with hints of pressed meadow flowers, struck stone, mountain herbs, earth, dried meats and exotic spices. These aromas transpose neatly onto the palate, which shows an expressive, savoury flow, tight, chalky tannins and a bright mineral line that drives the wine along beautifully and keeps all in check."

Our 2023 Estate Pinot Noir is always a wine that needs time to show its true colours. It is made for the long haul, with ample tannin and acidity as well as fruit density to last the distance. Densely packed layers of aroma on the nose, with a strikingly intense palate, are supported by especially vibrant and luscious fruit notes and fine tannin structure. A wine that will continue to open and grow with time in the bottle.
