Description

Emma was the great-great-great grandmother of the current Mills generation.

They named this single vineyard expression of Pinot Noir in honour of her.

It comes from a pocket of the vineyard right near the water of Lake Wanaka. It's a softer, more streamlined version of Pinot Noir from this famous vineyard. It's Rippon spoken at a whisper, but it's utterly stunning to drink.

Only a small amount of Emma's Block makes it to Australian shores. Allocations are limited.

"Aromas of fresh strawberries and flint with hints of iodine and seashells follow through to a medium body... Very drinkable now but better in a year or two."

"A deeper profile here, with some nice juiciness to its form, plenty of detail, pure spiced cherry fruits, crushed rocky tannins and a lovely energy and flow to its travel." - Dave Brookes (Halliday Wine Companion)

"Complex wine with layers of concentrated berry and cherry fruit... Very long and harmonious but with an innate sinewy power, this will reward long-term cellaring but is already approachable now."
- Stephen Wong (The Real Review)

97 points - "Aromas of fresh strawberries and flint with hints of iodine and seashells follow through to a medium body. Polished and linear with a fine thread of tannins and acidity throughout, this grows in the finish with lots of spices. From biodynamically grown grapes. Very drinkable now but better in a year or two." - James Suckling

96 points - "Emma’s Block faces eastward on the Wānaka lakefront with clay reefs running laterally through fine schist gravels. Deep ruby with aromas of wild strawberry, dark and red plum and cherry fruits. Hints of crushed mountain herbs, dried meats, medina spice, dried citrus rind, charcuterie and turned leaf litter. A deeper profile here, with some nice juiciness to its form, plenty of detail, pure spiced cherry fruits, crushed rocky tannins and a lovely energy and flow to its travel." - Dave Brookes (Halliday Wine Companion)

96 points - "Complex wine with layers of concentrated berry and cherry fruit, baking spice, dried porcini, wildflowers and even a hint of honey, this majestic pinot expands across the palate as each flavour expresses itself against the backdrop of ripe, grainy, black olive tannins. Very long and harmonious but with an innate sinewy power, this will reward long-term cellaring but is already approachable now" - Stephen Wong (The Real Review)

Rippon

Rippon Vineyard is one of the most breathtaking sites in Central Otago.

For over a century the Mills family has farmed this small patch of earth on the banks of Lake Wanaka. Nick Mills is the fourth generation of his family to walk the rows on Rippon. He now farms the site according to biodynamic principles.

The Mills family and Rippon are intrinsically linked. There's a deep connection to the land which Nick translates into their superlative wines.

Pinot Noir, Gamay, Riesling and Gewürztraminer all excel at Rippon. The wines are made with patience and love.

In the wines of Rippon, you can sense everything that is transcendent about terroir-driven winemaking where the story of a place is told through the wines it produces.

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
