The Higher Plane Time For Heroes Malbec is a vibrant, youthful example of great value Margaret River Malbec.
Higher Plane, located in Margaret River's Forest Grove, was established in 1997 and is sustainably farmed with organic principles. Juniper owners Roger Hill and Gillian Anderson purchased it in 2006, their son Tom now continues the family business, focusing on maintaining the traditional stylings of the wines and keeping the value proposition high.
This Malbec is fermented as handpicked whole bunches, undergoing 14 days of carbonic maceration and 6 days of fermentation, with hand plunging twice daily. It’s aged for 5 months in neutral, large-format French oak barrels, keeping it in a fresh, fruit-forward mode and making it extremely approachable from day dot.
This is a lovely luscious red which proves there's still some great value to be had in Margaret River if you know where to look.

"From its outrageous dark purple to the gorgeous fruit profile on offer, how could anyone say no to malbec? A resounding yes to this with its heady aromas of violets and freshly rolled tobacco – ah, those were the days – to the dark plums and cherries sprinkled with cocoa and Middle Eastern spices. The palate is only medium bodied, the tannins shapely, the acidity refreshing, ensuring this finishes on a high note. Factor in the price and the style, as in a drink-now option, and this is tip-top."
