Description

The 2023 vintage marks a confident step forward for Denton’s top Pinot Noir parcel - 21-year-old, close-planted MV6 vines rooted deep into the granite on the northeast slope of View Hill. This is the site’s most powerful Pinot block, but the hallmark Denton finesse is still there, shaped by cool mornings and shelter from the harsh afternoon sun.

Picked mid-March in a long, steady ripening season, the fruit was fermented wild with 10% whole bunches, then matured for 10 months in French oak - around a third of which was new. It’s an unforced, well-judged wine that lets the vineyard lead. Kirilly Gordon’s detail-focused winemaking builds on the site’s natural structure with a delicate hand, and it shows.

With Denton in a new phase under Scott Bishop’s ownership, and a sharp team in the vineyard and cellar, this is a producer hitting its stride - and the results are exciting.

95 points
"A little reduction, which quickly blows off to reveal aromas of wild strawberries, damson plums, a little rose petal and subtle hints of cinnamon and nutmeg. There’s good intensity on the medium-bodied palate together with fine but firm tannins. This will only get better over the next four to six years, if not longer."

Great value pinot!

Elegant pinot, has you coming back for more, will certainly age very well.

Fruit for this wine is sourced from the close-planted Pinot Noir block perched at the top of the northeast-facing slope. The deep-rooted MV6 vines are planted at 1.5 x 0.8 metres, producing Denton’s most powerful and concentrated Pinot Noir without losing the vineyard’s signature elegance. The exposure means the block sees soft morning light while enjoying shelter from the hot afternoon sun. The fruit was picked a touch later than the previous year, on March 15th, and fermented with 10% bunches. After 12 days with gentle pumpovers, the wine was pressed to French oak (33% new) for 10 months’ maturation.

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
