Description

Jeff Byrne is doing some properly exciting things up in Orange, and this inaugural release from his own Nashdale property is a huge milestone. Planted way up at 900 metres above sea level on the old Glenidle block, this two-hectare patch is a high-altitude playground. Jeff went all out, planting five different pinot clones to get maximum complexity right from the start.

Instead of heavy extraction, he kept the winemaking clean and unforced. The fruit was hand-picked, destemmed right down to whole berries, and given a cold soak before a brief stint in large French oak. All designed to retain freshness, purity & detail.

This is a really bright, crunchy red that feels alive in the glass. It shows plenty of brambly darkness, wild raspberries, and nice subtle hints of earth and spice. Lovely fine tannins and that classic high-altitude acidity add structure and length.

An exciting addition to the Byrne Farm portfolio and another example of the ability of Orange to produce quality Pinot Noir.

93 points - "The inaugural release of Glenidle vineyard from the Nashdale property, 900m above sea level. 100% destemmed, cold soaked and aged in large French oak for nine months. Some lilac and blueberries on the stalk with fresh raspberries and rhubarb. A licorice root and fenugreek seed spice. Once again, oak plays second fiddle to fruit. There is a cobweb of lacy tannins and some persistent acidity. With its extremes of lively fruit and foundations of structure, this will age well over the next five to eight years." - Shanteh Wale (Halliday Wine Companion)

Our 2023 Byrne Farm "Glenidle Vineyard" Pinot Noir is an our inaugural release, sourced from our two hectare vineyard we planted on our property in Nashdale historically referred to as 'Glenidle'. Grown at just above 900m above sea level, our vineyard was purposely planted to a mix of five clones of Pinot Noir 667, 115, 114, Abel and 777, each clone adding different attributes, handpicked, 100% destemmed to whole berry, cold soaked and plunged once daily before being pressed and aged in large French oak for nine months. This wine shows bright dark cherry, raspberry fruits with subtle spice and perfume. Our Pinot Noir is fresh and crunchy with a delicate palette and a powerful fruit finish.

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
