Description

Langhorne Creek isn’t the first place people look for Malbec, but maybe it should be. Bleasdale’s been working with the variety for decades, and this release shows how well they’ve nailed it. It’s rich without going overboard, dark-fruited with a bit of spice, with just enough tannin to keep it all in check.

No fancy tricks here - just a solid, good-drinking Malbec from a winery that knows what it’s doing. Black cherry, plum, a bit of cocoa, and a savoury finish that keeps things from feeling too jammy. Mid-weight, clean, and seriously easy to like.

This isn’t a wine that needs cellaring or a big occasion. It drinks well now, especially with something grilled or slow-cooked. A no-brainer.

"This is just hitting its straps. Easy to get into, as it offers all the archetypal flavours and more... There’s a certain restraint and elegance to this, and that’s a word not often used for this bolshie variety, such is the Bleasdale way. This has youth on its side so it’s bright and easy. In time it will garner more complexity. Can you wait?"
- Jane Faulkner (Halliday Wine Companion)

95 points - "This is just hitting its straps. Easy to get into, as it offers all the archetypal flavours and more. Appealing fresh tobacco and warm bitumen aromas come through, while flavours of dark plums and black cherries are doused in licorice, woodsy spices and choc-mint. It’s a fuller-bodied but not big wine. There’s a certain restraint and elegance to this, and that’s a word not often used for this bolshie variety, such is the Bleasdale way. This has youth on its side so it’s bright and easy. In time it will garner more complexity. Can you wait?" - Jane Faulkner (Halliday Wine Companion)

95 points - "For many years now, this has been one of my favourite Malbecs. It comes from several estate vineyards and other growers, which are picked and crushed separately before maturation and blending. The bright red colour has hints of purple and crimson. Aromas of violet and blackberry with a muted background of plum and spice. The tannins are important here in that they are firmish but perfectly weighted to support. The brightness and energy are captivating and engaging. Just love this style." - Ray Jordan (Wine Pilot)

Marvellous

If you’re unfamiliar with the Malbec grape this is the perfect place to start, Bleasdale produce Australia’s best Malbecs and this example is no exception. The perfect companion for those colder weeknights and you can’t go past pairing this with any steak night!

BACKGROUND
The majestic red gums that surround Bleasdale are at the core of our remarkable history. When Frank Potts settled the land in the 1850s, he used the timber from these big, beautiful trees to build our winery. Our vineyards benefit from the rich, clay soils that also support these gums, giving generosity and longevity to our wines. The growth rings reflect the multitude of stories from past seasons and generations of family and growers alike.
Bleasdale has been growing Malbec since the late 1800’s and produced the regions first Malbec table wine in 1961.

TASTING NOTES
This wine is dark purple with intense aromas of violets, blackberries, plums and clove spice. Drinking well now, but with the potential to be a long term cellaring prospect if desired.
Decanting one hour before drinking is recommended.

Bleasdale

Historic South Australian wine producer, Bleasdale, was established in 1850 by English migrant Frank Potts who arrived on the HMS Buffalo in 1836. For four generations, the Potts family have farmed their portion of Langhorne Creek, and are baked into the lore of South Australia's rich and multifaceted agricultural/viticultural history.

Their current-day winemaker, Paul Hotker, has had an incredible run of late. In 2017 he was named the 2018 Halliday Wine Companion Winemaker of the Year, in 2019 he took out Australia's most coveted Wine Show accolade, the Jimmy Watson Memorial Trophy.

In 2023 they were awarded the highly coveted Halliday Winery of the Year. Regardless of your preferred wine style, there is something of exceptional value on offer from Bleasdale here for you.

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
