Description

Anderson and Marsh is an exciting collaboration between two of Alpine Valleys' finest winemakers - Eleana Anderson from Mayford and Jo Marsh from Billy Button.

The two friends love exploring new grape varieties and when they had a chance to work together with the white Spanish variety, Albarino, the pair jumped at it.

It's all hand-picked fruit, made with a combination of stainless steel to capture all of the fruit's bright fruit characters, as well as some oak, some solids and some lees to add texture and complexity.

A leading Australian example of Albarino and just a lovely, versatile drink. Just 100 dozen made, get in quick!

95 points, "Albariño gets the deluxe treatment and that's a 'Wow!' Each vintage sees these two makers excel themselves with the Spanish grape, reaching down deeper into its character to extract layer upon layer of complexity. Preserved lemon, grapefruit pith, lime zest, apple, beeswax and peach – a rich tapestry of scents, flavours and textures – are set against an assertive acid backbone. That saline, mineral kicker of a finish is gold." - Jeni Port (Halliday Wine Companion)

Another collaboration with winemaker friend Jo Marsh, with fruit sourced from the sensational Greenacre Vineyard in Merriang South.

Hand-picked and whole bunch pressed to stainless steel. This year the juice was racked off fluffy lees and then divided into two parcels, One half to an old oak puncheon and the balance to stainless steel. Two select yeast strains were used. At the completion of primary ferment, the puncheon was topped, both parcels were sulphured to prevent malolactic fermentation and matured on lees without stirring for 6 months. The parcels were then blended, stabilised and filtered prior to bottling.

100 dozen were produced.

Succulent, minerally and aromatic, this delicious white varietal from Galicia in Spain’s cool northwest (or perhaps across the border in the northeast of Portugal where is is known as Alvarinho), offers up beautiful citrus blossom, exotic fruits, honey suckle and mineral characters with mouth-watering texture and freshening limey acidity.

Anderson and Marsh

Jo Marsh and Eleana Anderson are two of the Alpine Valleys' most respected vignerons in their own right.

The two producers have two distinctly different ways of showcasing their region under their own labels. Eleana through the lens of a single estate, Mayford, where she produces powerful, cellar-worthy examples of Tempranillo, Shiraz, Chardonnay and Cabernet. Jo goes another route, exploring the vast tapestry of eclectic growers across the region under the banner of Billy Button.

The two have been great friends and collaborators for years. Under Anderson & Marsh, they combine their formidable skills to craft a small, curated range of wines which meld their two personal styles. Anderson & Marsh was named the 2024 Halliday Wine Companion Dark Horse Winery of the Year.
