Description

The Super Nanny sits at the top of the Nanny Goat range – a careful selection of the best barrels from the most expressive sites across Central Otago. Each component is handled separately before blending, with the focus on structure, depth and detail rather than sheer power.

The 2022 season was moderate and consistent, giving small, balanced berries and naturally concentrated fruit. Fermentation took place in small open-top vats with wild yeast, followed by maturation in French oak, mostly barriques, for just over a year.

The wine shows dark cherry, plum and subtle spice, with firm, finely layered tannins that carry through the length of the palate. There’s generosity here, but everything stays in line – the oak, the fruit, the texture – all working toward balance. It’s serious, composed Central Otago Pinot made with a light hand and a clear idea of place.

Vibrant, spicy pinot noir with black cherry, hazelnut, mixed spice and plum flavours. The wine has weight and energy with appealing complexity. Whiie it can be appreciated now it should develop well with bottle age.

Winemaker Comments
The nose opens with vivid bursts of raspberry, red rose petal, dark chocolate, black tea, dried earth, and peat smoke, all swirling around a brooding core of black and blue berry fruits that evolve beautifully with air.

The density of the bouquet belies the wine’s delicate, light-footed precision on the palate — a crisp bead of acidity punctuates the enveloping silkiness of beautifully ripe tannins. Red currants, damson plum, raspberry, damp earth, and sweet baking spice work in perfect harmony, fading slowly into shadows on a tantalisingly bright finish.

Winemaking
Crafted from select parcels of fruit chosen for their distinctive colour, flavour, and structure. Hand-harvested and gently destemmed into small open-top fermenters, retaining a large proportion of whole berries alongside 20% whole bunches. Natural fermentation followed by extended post-ferment maceration for a total of 30–32 days on skins. Pressed to 225L French oak barrels (25% new) and matured for 14 months. Bottled without fining or filtration to preserve vineyard purity.
