- James Halliday (The Weekend Australian)

With the Lloyd family's commitment to experimenting with new varieties, Grenache Blanc makes a lot of sense in their range.

It's a variety which finds its home in the Rhone Valley. Given the success of Shiraz, Grenache and Mataro etc in McLaren Vale, Grenache Blanc is sure to thrive. Here it is blended with a portion of Grenache Gris (10%) and Clairette (10%) for a little extra textural complexity.

This is a soft, honeyed, gently savoury white wine with good body and weight.

A chilled bottle of this and some fish and chips by the ocean would be a great way to spend an afternoon.

"An excellent wine year in and year out. A very good value. Phenolics over obvious freshness, although no lack of either. Salted quince, oatmeal leesiness, straw, preserved lemons and ripe golden apples. Grenache gris and picpoul are in the blend, too. Drink or hold. Screw cap."
- Ned Goodwin MW (James Suckling)

2022 is our fourth release of our El Beyda and is now a blend of Grenache Blanc (80%), Grenache Gris (10%) and Clairette (10%).

The fruit is hand picked and spends a day in the press on skins. After which the juice is pressed into oak barrels for fermentation, where it stays on lees for six months prior to bottling.

Honey, citrus and white peach on the nose, with flavours of ripe lemons, mandarin and spiced nougat. The palate is medium bodied with soft acidity and a savoury texture.

94 points & Top 100 Wines of the Year - "A blend of grenache blanc, grenache gris, clairette and piquepoul: a white wanting to be a red, maybe. It’s full to its eyeballs with spice flavours that are more often encountered with red wines. Over-extracted? At the back-palate perhaps, but it rightens the yacht and we all lurch forward." - James Halliday (The Weekend Australian)

93 points - "Honey, fresh apricot and lime, some floral notes, peach Danish pastry (should that be capitalized?). A glycerol feel though threaded with pear skin grip, quite nutty and saline, juicy white fleshed fruits with a savoury edge. Finish is good too, and the traction of light skinsy texture is really appealing." - Gary Walsh (The Wine Front)

17/20 - "Touch of golden colour, very pretty, honeyed, orange-blossom aromas, lovely textural, grape-pulpy quality. Very satisfying drink." -

Dune

Duncan and Peter Lloyd are the latest generation of Lloyds (of Coriole fame) to make wine in McLaren Vale.

Growing up immersed in the hotbed of food and wine culture that is McLaren Vale, the boys have now partnered up to start their own wine project with a stunning vineyard in Blewitt Springs as the centrepiece.

The grapes are farmed organically, the wines are made with a gentle touch, but rather than let the 'minimal intervention' philosophy hem them in with dogma, the boys are free to tinker and blend as they see fit.

These are fantastic, energetic wines that have set a cracking pace with only a few vintages under the brand's belt. Keep your eyes peeled for what's next for the brothers Lloyd.

Ordering

We want Different Drop customers to always be getting the best price. If you see a lower price elsewhere, just get in touch and we will sort it out for you. We handle all our price-matching on a case by case basis.

Some things to keep in mind:

  • Retrospective price-matching is available for 30 days after you have purchased from us.
  • The price match cannot be used in conjunction with a coupon or one-off deal we are offering. The idea is for you to get the best price in the market so if that is already achieved through a coupon then we won't price match on top of that.
  • We don't price match clearance or fire sales.
  • We’ll match the listed price as long as it is a legitimate offer and the competing store is actually able to fulfil the order (they have stock or more stock is en route). Essentially we won't price match cheeky vendors listing wines they have no hope of actually getting for you...
  • It must be a publicly listed price. We won't match a price that has been achieved through a coupon/cash-back arrangement, or through a non-advertised offer over the phone or otherwise.
  • It is limited to a reasonable retail quantity.

We'll treat each price match request on its merit and reserve the right to refuse where we deem fit. For example, particularly rare wines, from non-trust-worthy vendors, in circumstances we deem illegitimate or if we feel our policy is being unfairly taken advantage of.

At the end of the day, we'll look after you and use common sense to ensure you're getting the best price, please just don't take the p%$$!

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

We stock three different sized gift boxes (single, three bottle and six), all are available for purchase for a flat rate of $8. They look great and make an awesome impression.

To add a gift box to your order, simply add at checkout. The special requests box is your friend, please give us as many details of what you are looking for and we will try our best, or get in contact to discuss it with you.

If you want to bulk order gifts or if you have any trouble please email hello@differentdrop.com or call and we can try and help.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
