Description

This is a silky, velvety Syrah to be enamoured by.

The fruit comes from the small Sluiter Vineyard, and after being sorting and chilled it gets fully destemmed. The little grapes then chilled on their skins while fermenting for 12 days, then the juice was pressed to fibreglass tank to sit for a further 10 months on lees.

To put it simply, this is just a really fantastic wine. Violets, blueberries, velvety tannin and a crunchy zip of acidity. Extremely drinkable stuff from the Buttons, as always.

"This is great... It feels so easy to drink, but fancy in a way too. Reminds me of Gramenon at its best, if you get that reference. If you don’t, simply, this is delicious."
- 94pts, Mike Bennie (The Wine Front)

The wine is soft and distinctly Syrah with powerful violets and blueberries. The fruit is grounded thought by the early tannins and acidy. The wine is light but has depth - very drinkable.
This is the second year we have made this wine from the Kas Sluiter vineyard in Mylor. The Sluiter vineyard is .75Ha of Syrah with 3 different clones 1164, 1127 and 1125. The soil is sand over light clay. The site is cool under the shadow of a large hill and ripening tends towards the end of April. When we were tasting the fruit for this harvest, we all agreed it was the tastiest fruit off the vine of all the vineyards and we are very excited to be working with these vines! /p>

94 Points - "This is great. Soft in texture, supple, succulent, dark fruited but with game meat and cola characters, faint earthy notes, a touch of paperbark, some alpine herb elements. I love the perfume. Addictive. The palate delivers deliciousness, similar characters to the scents, a generosity but freshness, lots of flavour, lots of character. The gist is a wine that flows beautifully and with freshness in tow. It feels so easy to drink, but fancy in a way too. Reminds me of Gramenon at its best, if you get that reference. If you don’t, simply, this is delicious." - Mike Bennie (The Wine Front)

It was very drinkable, especially with roast beef (that's only because that's what I enjoyed it with). I would imagine that if I had more it could lie down for a few years and be even more delicious if you can manage it.

Commune of Buttons

Siblings Jasper and Sophie Button returned home some years ago to help save their family vineyard nestled in the Basket Range of the Adelaide Hills, planted primarily to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay 20 years ago by their mother.

They began restoring the site and transitioning to organic and biodynamic farming, and at some point decided that rather than sell off their prized grapes to others, they’d turn their hand to winemaking.

The wines are made naturally with only minimal sulphur additions and slow, gentle ferments. Jasper's winemaking has taken them to the front of the pack in the lo-fi Australian wine scene. With each release, the wines are more refined and detailed. They are wonderfully pure, unadulterated and as loveable as the family who makes them.

Ordering

We want Different Drop customers to always be getting the best price. If you see a lower price elsewhere, just get in touch and we will sort it out for you. We handle all our price-matching on a case by case basis.

Some things to keep in mind:

  • Retrospective price-matching is available for 30 days after you have purchased from us.
  • The price match cannot be used in conjunction with a coupon or one-off deal we are offering. The idea is for you to get the best price in the market so if that is already achieved through a coupon then we won't price match on top of that.
  • We don't price match clearance or fire sales.
  • We’ll match the listed price as long as it is a legitimate offer and the competing store is actually able to fulfil the order (they have stock or more stock is en route). Essentially we won't price match cheeky vendors listing wines they have no hope of actually getting for you...
  • It must be a publicly listed price. We won't match a price that has been achieved through a coupon/cash-back arrangement, or through a non-advertised offer over the phone or otherwise.
  • It is limited to a reasonable retail quantity.

We'll treat each price match request on its merit and reserve the right to refuse where we deem fit. For example, particularly rare wines, from non-trust-worthy vendors, in circumstances we deem illegitimate or if we feel our policy is being unfairly taken advantage of.

At the end of the day, we'll look after you and use common sense to ensure you're getting the best price, please just don't take the p%$$!

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

We stock three different sized gift boxes (single, three bottle and six), all are available for purchase for a flat rate of $8. They look great and make an awesome impression.

To add a gift box to your order, simply add at checkout. The special requests box is your friend, please give us as many details of what you are looking for and we will try our best, or get in contact to discuss it with you.

If you want to bulk order gifts or if you have any trouble please email hello@differentdrop.com or call and we can try and help.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
