Description

The Button siblings have crafted this lovely Chardonnay from a small parcel of fruit off the Merrowbank Vineyard (planted in 1998) in the Piccadilly Valley. They've been restoring this vineyard for the past three years, and finally, their hard work has paid off.

The fruit was chilled then whole bunch pressed. The juice got sent to 3-year-old barriques to ferment, staying on its lees as well for a further 8 months.

It's bright and chewy, with notes of cashews, peaches and an undercurrent of lip-smacking natural acidity and a hint of minerality.

"It’s an understated but beautiful wine, refreshing and clean. Feels very sophisticated, a wine of precision and deliciousness. Winner."
- 94pts, Mike Bennie (The Wine Front)

Eurilla has a generous mid-palate of cashews and white peach, there is fruit weight, but this is underlined by minerality and chalk with quenching natural acidity.
The Eurilla Chardonnay is the first wine to come from the Merrowbank Vineyard in the Piccadilly Valley from the Commune of Buttons. This small parcel of 0.7Ha was leased in 2020, and for the last 3 years we have been working to rehabilitate and convert the vineyard to organic viticulture. The vineyard was planted in 1998 and is all I10v1 Chardonnay. The soils are sandy clay with quartz and hardened sandstone. Perched on a south facing slope the altitude is 500 and is at the southern end of the valley. The vine density is 5,000 vines to the hectare and is now dry-grown. The vineyard this year produced 2 tonnes of chardonnay and was picked on the 4th of April.

94 points - "Tightly wound, lively and fresh, lemon, ginger, green apple, young almond. Slippery textured, glossy and yet energetic. Lengthy, persistent with this beautiful tickle of pink grapefruit acidity. It’s an understated but beautiful wine, refreshing and clean. Feels very sophisticated, a wine of precision and deliciousness. Winner." - Mike Bennie (The Wine Front)

Commune of Buttons

Siblings Jasper and Sophie Button returned home some years ago to help save their family vineyard nestled in the Basket Range of the Adelaide Hills, planted primarily to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay 20 years ago by their mother.

They began restoring the site and transitioning to organic and biodynamic farming, and at some point decided that rather than sell off their prized grapes to others, they’d turn their hand to winemaking.

The wines are made naturally with only minimal sulphur additions and slow, gentle ferments. Jasper's winemaking has taken them to the front of the pack in the lo-fi Australian wine scene. With each release, the wines are more refined and detailed. They are wonderfully pure, unadulterated and as loveable as the family who makes them.

Ordering

We want Different Drop customers to always be getting the best price. If you see a lower price elsewhere, just get in touch and we will sort it out for you. We handle all our price-matching on a case by case basis.

Some things to keep in mind:

  • Retrospective price-matching is available for 30 days after you have purchased from us.
  • The price match cannot be used in conjunction with a coupon or one-off deal we are offering. The idea is for you to get the best price in the market so if that is already achieved through a coupon then we won't price match on top of that.
  • We don't price match clearance or fire sales.
  • We’ll match the listed price as long as it is a legitimate offer and the competing store is actually able to fulfil the order (they have stock or more stock is en route). Essentially we won't price match cheeky vendors listing wines they have no hope of actually getting for you...
  • It must be a publicly listed price. We won't match a price that has been achieved through a coupon/cash-back arrangement, or through a non-advertised offer over the phone or otherwise.
  • It is limited to a reasonable retail quantity.

We'll treat each price match request on its merit and reserve the right to refuse where we deem fit. For example, particularly rare wines, from non-trust-worthy vendors, in circumstances we deem illegitimate or if we feel our policy is being unfairly taken advantage of.

At the end of the day, we'll look after you and use common sense to ensure you're getting the best price, please just don't take the p%$$!

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

We stock three different sized gift boxes (single, three bottle and six), all are available for purchase for a flat rate of $8. They look great and make an awesome impression.

To add a gift box to your order, simply add at checkout. The special requests box is your friend, please give us as many details of what you are looking for and we will try our best, or get in contact to discuss it with you.

If you want to bulk order gifts or if you have any trouble please email hello@differentdrop.com or call and we can try and help.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
