Description

Terroir al Límit continues to push the boundaries of Priorat winemaking, crafting rare and compelling wines that showcase the region’s rugged beauty and ancient terroirs. Pedra de Guix is a benchmark example—a Vi de Coster (1er Cru equivalent) that rivals the world’s great whites in depth and precision.

This unique blend combines Grenache Blanc from Poboleda’s schist soils, Macabeo from Torroja’s alluvial plots, and Pedro Ximénez from El Lloar’s chalky, gypsum-rich terrain. The 50 to 80-year-old vines yield grapes of remarkable intensity, which are basket-pressed and fermented naturally in concrete vats before ageing for 11 months. The result is a wine that channels the rocky terrain of its origins with clarity and tension.

Aromatic notes of dried pineapple, lemon peel, and pine nuts are supported by a saline edge and stony minerality. The palate is finely textured, with bright acidity, subtle phenolic grip, and a long, savoury finish that keeps evolving. Lighter on its feet than earlier iterations, this vintage balances freshness and structure with masterful precision.

Pedra de Guix is not just a rare white Priorat; it’s a benchmark wine that underscores Terroir al Límit’s place among Spain’s most sought-after artisan producers.

"The wine is floral, vertical and a lot less oxidative... with very good depth and freshness. It's a different profile of wine."
- Luis Gutiérrez (The Wine Advocate)

"More intensity here with a very subtle nutty edge... saline and concentrated in flavor but nothing hefty here. Fine tannins and bright acidity extend to a long, savory finish."
- Zekun Shuai (James Suckling)

96 points - "They shortened the élevage of the white 2021 Pedra de Guix to 11 months, and they also stopped using the 1,800-liter foudre, where the wine partially aged in the past, and now it's matured in concrete vats. The wine is floral, vertical and a lot less oxidative than even the 2019, which is less oxidative than previous years. It's a different profile of wine with very good depth and freshness. Funnily enough, this 2021 has a little more alcohol than the 2019 (13.5%), but the wine feels lighter on its feet." - Luis Gutierrez (The Wine Advocate)

95 points - "More intensity here with a very subtle nutty edge. Pine nuts, dried pineapples, lemon peel and stones. Saline and concentrated in flavor but nothing hefty here. Fine tannins and bright acidity extend to a long, savory finish. Drink now or hold." - Zekun Shuai (James Suckling)

This Vi de Coster, the equivalent of a 1er Cru, is among the most mineral and sculpted whites you’ll encounter. It feels as though it’s been tapped directly from stone—a testament to its origin. Pedra de Guix isn’t just rare as a white Priorat; it stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the world’s great whites.

This blend draws from three villages: Grenache Blanc from Poboleda's schist soils, Macabeo from Torroja's alluvial soils, and Pedro Ximenez from El Lloar's chalky, gypsum-rich soils. The vines are between 50 and 80 years old, producing fruit of remarkable depth and character. Grapes are gently basket-pressed over several hours, with the juice fermenting wild in diamond-shaped concrete vats, where it matures for 11 months.

Today, most of the grapes are pressed off their skins before fermentation, shifting the focus toward purity and tension while maintaining the hallmark salinity and structure from the rocky terroir. Bottled unfiltered, this is a pungent, stony expression of Priorat, with laser-like acidity, a perfect balance of phenolic grip, and satisfying textural weight—a true benchmark wine.

Terrroir al Limit

Terroir al Límit is a winery redefining the boundaries of Priorat, one of Spain’s most prestigious wine regions. Founded in 2001 by Dominik Huber and South African winemaker Eben Sadie, this project has become a beacon for a new style of Priorat—where finesse, balance, and purity take precedence over power and opulence.

Rooted in the rugged hills of Catalonia, Terroir al Límit embraces the philosophy that great wines are born in the vineyard. Old vines of Garnatxa and Carinyena, grown biodynamically on steep slate soils, provide the foundation. In the cellar, minimal intervention is key: whole-bunch fermentation, concrete tanks, and short macerations preserve the vibrancy and soul of the fruit. Oak barrels? A thing of the past.

Huber’s wines are a revelation—ethereal reds and textural whites that offer a fresh, almost Burgundian-like perspective on Priorat. Flagship wines like Les Manyes and Les Tosses showcase single vineyards with astounding clarity and depth, while Pedra de Guix redefines what a white Priorat can be.

With a vision rooted in sustainability and respect for tradition, Terroir al Límit is leading the charge for a lighter, more expressive future for Priorat—and Spanish wine as a whole.

Ordering

We want Different Drop customers to always be getting the best price. If you see a lower price elsewhere, just get in touch and we will sort it out for you. We handle all our price-matching on a case by case basis.

Some things to keep in mind:

  • Retrospective price-matching is available for 30 days after you have purchased from us.
  • The price match cannot be used in conjunction with a coupon or one-off deal we are offering. The idea is for you to get the best price in the market so if that is already achieved through a coupon then we won't price match on top of that.
  • We don't price match clearance or fire sales.
  • We’ll match the listed price as long as it is a legitimate offer and the competing store is actually able to fulfil the order (they have stock or more stock is en route). Essentially we won't price match cheeky vendors listing wines they have no hope of actually getting for you...
  • It must be a publicly listed price. We won't match a price that has been achieved through a coupon/cash-back arrangement, or through a non-advertised offer over the phone or otherwise.
  • It is limited to a reasonable retail quantity.

We'll treat each price match request on its merit and reserve the right to refuse where we deem fit. For example, particularly rare wines, from non-trust-worthy vendors, in circumstances we deem illegitimate or if we feel our policy is being unfairly taken advantage of.

At the end of the day, we'll look after you and use common sense to ensure you're getting the best price, please just don't take the p%$$!

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

We stock three different sized gift boxes (single, three bottle and six), all are available for purchase for a flat rate of $8. They look great and make an awesome impression.

To add a gift box to your order, simply add at checkout. The special requests box is your friend, please give us as many details of what you are looking for and we will try our best, or get in contact to discuss it with you.

If you want to bulk order gifts or if you have any trouble please email hello@differentdrop.com or call and we can try and help.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
