About The Wine
Julian Langworthy is known in certain circles as the 'King of Pink'.
The man crafts an ungodly amount of top shelf Rosé in his day job as chief winemaker at Deep Woods. For his Nocturne label, he's looking for a slightly more savoury and stuctural style of pink.
This combines Sangiovese and Nebbiolo picked specifically for Rosé into a vibrant, textural, highly-gluggable wine style that is ready to slake your thirst this Summer.
The advantage of making Rosé from these Italian varieties is that they come with plenty of tannin and crisp acidity, by using some lees time and a little barrel work, Julian and Alana can pack some flesh on those bones. Dry, savoury, and wondefully fragrant, this will be a favourite this Summer.
About Nocturne
Nocturne is the personal side label of highly decorated Margaret River winemaker Julian Langworthy and his wife Alana.
Julian has won just about everything there is to win in Australian wine, having taken out Winemaker of the Year for the 2019 Halliday Wine Companion, the 2016 Jimmy Watson Memorial Trophy at Royal Melbourne in the space of just a couple of years.
The Nocturne wines are all small production with Julian focusing on quality rather than quantity in this range.
The fruit is procured through Julian's connections with local growers developed over his lifetime in the Margaret River region. If you're looking for hidden gems of Margaret River, the Nocturne wines are it.

From The Producer
The fruit comes from the sub-region of Carbanup in Margaret River, with the sites being relatively flat and warm with fertile, red sandy soils. The Sangiovese fruit was simply destemmed, chilled and pressed using only the free-run fraction of the juice. It was then fermented at moderate temperatures using as always solely indigenous yeasts. After fermentation, it was matured for three months on gross lees to add additional texture. The Nebbiolo fruit was hand-picked and, after chilling, whole bunch-pressed directly to old oak for fermentation.
This took close to six weeks, after which the wine received a further four weeks’ maturation in barrel. At this stage, the final blend between Sangiovese and Nebbiolo was decided and the wine was emptied from barrel/tank, settled, filtered, sulphured and bottled on 3rd August.
We are super stoked with the final wine!! The texture and acid structure are highlights of what is likely a more approachable and fruit-forward release of Nocturne rosé. As always, best drunk from magnum, on a boat, wearing white…. It’s a pale salmon dream.

Warehouse Pickupis available from our Sydney warehouse in Ultimo, 2007. Just select Local Pickup at checkout. We are open 8am to 4pm, Monday to Friday.

Do I have to order in dozens? No, please mix it up! You can order wines in any quantity and variation you like. You can order 1 bottle or 50. We challenge you to make the ultimate mixed pack of wine!
Are there volume discounts? No, our pricing is designed to be the best in market already - no marking up and then discounting down! For very large orders (weddings, etc) we are open to negotiating though. Just give us a call.
Do we price match? Yes, within reason. Everyday low & consistent pricing is something we strongly believe in. We want our customers to feel confident they are always getting the best price. If you see a price lower somewhere else let us know and we'll consider matching it. We'll even retrospectively issue you store credit if you have already purchased from us but you see a lower price somewhere later on. Our price match policy can be seen here.
Can coupons and discounts be stacked? No, only one discount or coupon can be applied to an order at once.
I am trying to add more of a wine to my cart but it won’t let me? This means we are running low on stock of that wine. So for example, if the website will only allow you to add 3 bottles and no more, then that is all we have of that particular wine. The good news is we may be able to order more for you. Just contact us on 02 8376 8775 or hello@differentdrop.com and we'll organise the additional quantity for you.
Does Different Drop have a physical store? No. Just an a warehouse/office. We occasionally do events however, so sign up to our newsletter or follow us on instagram to stay in the loop.
Can I special order a wine you do not sell? If it’s doable, then we’ll make it happen. Just contact us directly via phone, chat or email and we’ll find out for you right away. Please note that in most cases special orders such as these will need to be in full case lots (6 or 12 bottles).
