Description

The Mercer Pinot Grigio features what you know and love fropm the grape, but with some added complexity.

Pear and blossom announce themselves first up, and there's some delicious nuttiness and creamy, baked-goods characters that follow. This isn't your typical light and forgettable Pinot Grigio, as there's a bit of palate weight to it, while the acidity maintains the freshness and the slight nuttiness and powdery texture give it a nice savoury edge on the finish.

While you might usually enjoy a Pinot Grigio in the warmer months, this is a delightful wine to crack open with a pizza on a Friday night.

A voguish approach to a classic style, this Grigio celebrates fresh fruit from vines in the Hilltops of NSW. It differs from the traditional style by adding weight through no early sulphur, time with yeast lees and a period in barrel.

Pure, yet textured. Enjoy this fine and focussed drop showcasing white flowers, creamy almond nougat and acid crunch. A welcome addition to Summer barbecues with friends.

93 Points - "Hopefully we will eventually get something of a summer here in NSW, and if and when that happens, this will be a nice wine to enjoy in the sunshine with friends. I don’t have any of those, though I have plenty of wine.

"Floral, green pear, almonds and a smattering of sweet herb. It’s fleshy and gently waxy in texture, but fresh too, with a fine powdery texture, more of that lovely Italianate almond flavour and subtle bitterness, and a fresh finish of excellent length. This is so lovely, and kind of textbook in terms of how best to make a non skin-contact Grigio. Recommended." Gary Walsh (The Wine Front)

91 Points - "No need for pearl clutching here, Aaron has kept the colouring inside the lines, but definitely with vibrant colours. Usual suspects of fresh pear and honeysuckle/blossom are given a fine stablemate of nutty, creamy almond croissant inner. The two speed palate sees creamy weight and cool climate acidity in parallel and balance. Freshness abounds the entire length." Regan Drew (vinonotebook)

Mercer

Hunter Valley native Aaron Mercer has been involved in the wine game for over 20 years, starting from the very bottom, scrubbing tanks.

While he has experience across the globe, he’s made a name for himself in Australia through his previous role at organic pioneers, Tamburlaine.

Now back in the Hunter, Aaron sources sustainably grown fruit from across NSW for his wines.

This is an exciting new project, part of a new wave of NSW producers doing things their own way. With a great range of wines, it a label to keep your eyes on.

Ordering

We want Different Drop customers to always be getting the best price. If you see a lower price elsewhere, just get in touch and we will sort it out for you. We handle all our price-matching on a case by case basis.

Some things to keep in mind:

  • Retrospective price-matching is available for 30 days after you have purchased from us.
  • The price match cannot be used in conjunction with a coupon or one-off deal we are offering. The idea is for you to get the best price in the market so if that is already achieved through a coupon then we won't price match on top of that.
  • We don't price match clearance or fire sales.
  • We’ll match the listed price as long as it is a legitimate offer and the competing store is actually able to fulfil the order (they have stock or more stock is en route). Essentially we won't price match cheeky vendors listing wines they have no hope of actually getting for you...
  • It must be a publicly listed price. We won't match a price that has been achieved through a coupon/cash-back arrangement, or through a non-advertised offer over the phone or otherwise.
  • It is limited to a reasonable retail quantity.

We'll treat each price match request on its merit and reserve the right to refuse where we deem fit. For example, particularly rare wines, from non-trust-worthy vendors, in circumstances we deem illegitimate or if we feel our policy is being unfairly taken advantage of.

At the end of the day, we'll look after you and use common sense to ensure you're getting the best price, please just don't take the p%$$!

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

We stock three different sized gift boxes (single, three bottle and six), all are available for purchase for a flat rate of $8. They look great and make an awesome impression.

To add a gift box to your order, simply add at checkout. The special requests box is your friend, please give us as many details of what you are looking for and we will try our best, or get in contact to discuss it with you.

If you want to bulk order gifts or if you have any trouble please email hello@differentdrop.com or call and we can try and help.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
