Description

The fourth release of Meadowbank’s Blanc de Noirs is the most assured yet. One of the relatively new players on the premium sparkling scene in Tasmania, this is an excellent release from winemaker Peter Dredge.

Drawn entirely from Pinot Noir grown on the estate’s northeast-facing Wedding Block, the wine was made with extraordinary restraint: just 300L of juice per tonne was pressed, then fermented cool and left undisturbed on lees for three years. Disgorged in late 2024 with a minimalist 3g/L dosage, it lands as Extra Brut in style, but there’s nothing austere about it.

Expect a layered, vinous expression of Meadowbank Pinot: ripe red and orange fruits alongside gentle savoury notes of pastry and a lick of salt. The palate has weight and generosity, balanced by a long, mineral line of acidity that keeps everything poised.

It’s a serious sparkling, that's refined and every bit worthy of its place among Tasmania’s top-tier méthode traditionelle wines.

"This is fizz with real presence, a rambunctious, charismatic dandy of a wine that leans into the fleshy generosity that great pinot noir brings to sparkling wine."

95 points - "Top 100 Wines of 2025 This is fizz with real presence, a rambunctious, charismatic dandy of a wine that leans into the fleshy generosity that great pinot noir brings to sparkling wine. The aromatics set certain expectations: freeze-dried strawberries ground to fine powder, blood orange pith, a cherry Danish or two and a little cracked wheat autolysis. The palate meets those expectations with its sculpted curves and long, lively line of high-tensile acidity. This is serious sparkling, gastronomic and structured, for those who appreciate bubbles with bravado." - Nick Ryan (The Weekend Australian)

Embark on a journey of taste and sophistication with our latest release, the 2021 Meadowbank Blanc de Noirs. This wild and charismatic sparkling is the perfect wine for any celebratory occasion

Our Meadowbank dream team have called upon everything their extensive backgrounds have to offer. Gerald Ellis, the legendary Tasmanian vigneron, who has tended to and grown grapes for some of the best sparkling wine in the world (hint hint...House of Arras). Peter Dredge, the cult winemaker / artist / mad scientist, who has worked alongside and been mentored by iconic Australian sparkling wine doyen's Brian Croser (Petaluma and Croser Sparkling) and Ed Carr (House of Arras). Add to this the wonderful Mardi Ellis, whose natural effervescence inspires everything that we do, and this is when the magic truly happens.

Our 2021 Blanc de Noirs was made exclusively with Meadowbank Pinot Noir from our Wedding Block hidden deep in the Derwent Valley. It was left on tirage for 3 years and disgorged in September 2024 with a minimal intervention dosage liqueur - only 3g/L of sugar was added which makes this wine super dry in style (aka Extra Brut!). We believe this allows the wine to showcase an authentic 'sense of place' experience, with trademark Meadowbank flavours and seasonal characteristics detectable between vintage releases.

This wine is now in it's prime time for release and your drinking pleasure. Our Blanc de Noirs is decadence in a glass. Rich and flavourful, with a generous mouthfeel and classic Meadowbank pinot noir characteristics of strawberries and forest fruits.

Drink it now, or tuck it away in your cellar for up to 5 years, where it will happily await your perfect celebratory occasion.

Meadowbank

Meadowbank is one of the oldest vineyards in Tasmania with the Ellis family having farmed this site since 1976.

This is one of the most important sites on the Apple Isle.

After taking a brief hiatus from producing their own wines, Meadowbank now has the formidable talents of winemaker Peter Dredge at their disposal.

With Dredge in the winemaking hot seat, Meadowbank is set to be one of the benchmark producers in Tasmania for many years to come.

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
