Description

The Dalwhinnie Moonambel Cabernet is a cellar classic from one of Victoria's most picturesque vineyards.

This is one of Victoria's most collectable cool climate Cabernets. The unique micro climate of the Dalwhinnie ampitheatre vineyard produces thick Cabernets with deep pools of fruit and formidable structure.

It's a wine that shows its best after it's allowed to unfurl in the bottle for a few years.

Richly flavoured and perfectly seasoned with the finest French oak, these wines have a great reputation - and with good reason. These are the kind of hearty, rich Cabernets that form the basis of many fine Australian cellars.

97 points
"Expert viticulture has achieved ripeness, depth and impressive varietal character, and skilful, respectful winemaking allows the estate's signature cassis fruit to shine. Cellar-worthy."
- Toni Paterson (Halliday Wine Companion)

97 points - "Sourced from the original contour and front-gate vineyards on Dalwhinnie estate. Open-top fermentation, then pressed to French oak barriques for a 20-month maturation. The palate is outstanding, with plentiful dark, concentrated fruit that is focused and defined, held in a structural tannin frame and accented with dried marjoram. Expert viticulture has achieved ripeness, depth and impressive varietal character, and skilful, respectful winemaking allows the estate's signature cassis fruit to shine. Cellar-worthy." - Toni Paterson (Halliday Wine Companion)

96 points - "Aromas of blackcurrants, mulberries, dried herbs, cedar, cured meats, cocoa and pencil shavings. The palate is medium- to full-bodied with firmly framed tannins and a balanced acidity giving notes of blackberries, leather, blood plums, cassis, tobacco leaves and crushed graphite. Refined and savory, with great structure that should age a long time in the bottle. Drink or hold. Screw cap." - Ryan Montgomery (James Suckling)

95 points - "The eucalypt is noted but this is fabulous, and it’s fabulous for both the darkness and freshness of its fruit, and for the clear sustained sail of its finish. There’s a choc-mint aspect to this, not surprisingly, but if ever we wanted evidence that Dalwhinnie is back in town quality-wise, this is it." - Campbell Mattinson (The Wine Front)

93 points - "Deep and dense ruby-red hue. Blackberry, dried bayleaf and black olive aromatics. Full bodied on entry: there’s black fruits, tobacco, bayleaf and subtle dark earth notes along the long palate. Has a wonderful glide to it, tannins are full and supporting yet don’t stick out and the seamless nature of the flow is a delight. Drinking well know but will evolve brilliantly with cellaring time." - Stuart Knox (The Real Review)

The fruit for this wine was picked from largely the Cellar door block on the Dalwhinnie estate where it was then fermented for 14 days in open top fermenters. Once approaching dryness, the wine was pressed directly to French oak barriques for a 18 month maturation. Careful barrel selection as always looking for barrels that highlighted lift and length of flavour without obvious

The wine is dark purple with red-black hues. There’s compelling and elegant aromas of cassis, fresh plum and bay leaf roll from the glass. There are notes of intense cassis, sour cherry and savoury dried herbs, with a powder fine tannin structure that pulls blackcurrant flavours long through the palate. I really feel that we have started to pin down the DNA of this wine and this might be on eof the great Dalwhinnie cabernets , the season was just about perfect for cassis flavoured dreams. Enjoy over the next three to 20 years. – Julian Langworthy, Dalwhinnie

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
