About The Wine
The ChaLou Pinot Noir is so damn easy to drink.
With 1/4 of the fruit fermented using carbonic maceration, there are vibrant red-fruit tones and a certain lightness of touch though without the wine being one dimensional. The rest of the grapes had a cold soak on the skins for two days so the colour is quite pale, with aromas and flavours offering fruity characters but also a savoury edge, with spice giving the wine some depth.
This is a wine that you can easily sip on a Friday night or down with your dinner, and it will continue to develop for a few more years.
About ChaLou Wines
ChaLou Wines is the venture of winemakers Nadja Wallington and Steve Mobbs (and general manager Barnacle the labrador). Having both been raised in wine families, each went on to study winemaking straight after high school, where they became good friends, keeping in touch as they worked overseas making wine.
Reuniting in Orange, they fell in love and soon enough Steve began working at Nadja's family's winery, Wallington Wines. In 2020 they bought an established, 6ha Vineyard, with Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Riesling, Shiraz, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Viognier and Arneis. Nadja and Steve now focus on their own brand fulltime, where they're able to use their collective experiences to create great wine.
