About the Wine
The Te Mata Estate Vineyards Syrah is sourced from their estate vineyards in the Dartmoor, Bridge Pa Triangle and Gimblett Gravels sub-regions. With extended maceration, there is beautiful extraction of colour, flavour and texture from the grapes. The palate is complex with an array blue, black and red fruits and some savoury characters of coffee, herbs and smoke. All up, this is a beautiful wine that packs a huge lot of value into the bottle.
Syrah is one of the best-performing grapes in the Hawkes Bay region, where it can make the most of the abundant sunshine and ripen well. The area is responsible for around 90% of all the Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grown in the country.
