About the Wine
Given the cool (and often very cold) climate of Tasmania, the Shiraz/Syrah that grows there will never match the power of, say, Barossa Valley, but that's okay.
Steve and Monique Lubiana see their Syrah appealing to Pinot Noir drinkers due to its aromas and flavours of red fruits, plums, spice and some smoky notes. It's light and bright with fine acidity and texture, and tannins that put it more in line with Pinot Noir than the stereotypical Aussie Shiraz.
The certified biodynamic vineyard has shown that it is capable of producing high-quality fruit, and the Lubianas have expertly guided it to its full potential in this delicious wine.
About Stefano Lubiana
Steve and Monique Lubiana were pioneers of biodynamic farming in Tasmania.
Their gorgeous estate was the first to adopt the principals of biodynamics in 2008. Since then the quality of the Stefano Lubiana premium range has soared. The wines are immaculate: Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Sparklings all packed with flavour intensity and perfect balance.
As Mike Bennie observed, "Geez, there’s been some wind in the sail on their estate in southern Tasmania. This is top notch stuff right here."
Steve, a fifth-generation winemaker, is now one of Tasmania's leading producers, no doubt about it.
