Eben Sadie believes Tinta Barocca to be "The greatest grape for the Swartland".
While he may very well be Robinson Crusoe on that opinion, it's hard to argue with the quality of his offering of the straight variety. This Portuguese native thrives in his hands.
It's dark, structural, exotically spiced and has a wonderful perfume of dark fruits and dried flowers.
It's a wine that unfurls beautifully with time in bottle. It's the wild child of the Sadie line up and one to keep an eye on for the future.
About Sadie Family Wines
One of the tearaway producers of the revitalised Swartland wine scene, Sadie Family Wines has had an astronomical rise to fame on the international stage.
Owner and winemaker, Eben Sadie, first found acclaim under the banner of Terroir Al Limit where he was a co-founder alongside Dominik Huber. In the same way that Terroir Al Limit helped redefine what wine could taste like from Priorat in Spain, Sadie handles his family wines and vines with that same ruthless attention to detail.
These wines perfectly articulate a sense of place. Sadie's transparency in winemaking and obsessive farming practices reveal intense, tightly-wound wines with distinct personality. These are now some of South Africa's most keenly sought-after artisan wines. World-wide allocations are minuscule and hotly contested. As little as a handful of bottles make it to Australia each year. Secure these rare birds while you can.

“Treinspoor 2020 is a compilation of very many years of persistence with this variety. We have highlighted the fact that it has most probably been the greatest red variety planted in the Swartland for years. It just transports terroir and the typicality of the site much more successfully than most other red varietals. This 2020 is the result of 10 years of working the golden threads we could read in the makeup of this cultivar. The spicy, mineral, graphite and earthy characteristics flow into a basis of tannins and textures; and this wine has almost no start nor any end. We urge you to age this wine. Have one bottle in an emergency, but leave the rest of the case for the next decade of fine wine drinking. Tinta Barocca has a big temperament and needs big temperament ownership.” Eben Sadie

Do I have to order in dozens? No, please mix it up! You can order wines in any quantity and variation you like. You can order 1 bottle or 50. We challenge you to make the ultimate mixed pack of wine!
Are there volume discounts? No, our pricing is designed to be the best in market already - no marking up and then discounting down! For very large orders (weddings, etc) we are open to negotiating though. Just give us a call.
Do we price match? Yes, within reason. Everyday low & consistent pricing is something we strongly believe in. We want our customers to feel confident they are always getting the best price. If you see a price lower somewhere else let us know and we'll consider matching it. We'll even retrospectively issue you store credit if you have already purchased from us but you see a lower price somewhere later on. Our price match policy can be seen here.
Can coupons and discounts be stacked? No, only one discount or coupon can be applied to an order at once.
I am trying to add more of a wine to my cart but it won’t let me? This means we are running low on stock of that wine. So for example, if the website will only allow you to add 3 bottles and no more, then that is all we have of that particular wine. The good news is we may be able to order more for you. Does Different Drop have a physical store? No. Just an a warehouse/office. We occasionally do events however, so sign up to our newsletter or follow us on instagram to stay in the loop.
Can I special order a wine you do not sell? If it’s doable, then we’ll make it happen. Just contact us directly via phone, chat or email and we’ll find out for you right away. Please note that in most cases special orders such as these will need to be in full case lots (6 or 12 bottles).
