About

About The Wine

The Barbera D'Alba is the perfect approachable wine that will open the door for you to the wonderful world of Massolino.

Good/great Barbera is characterised by it's acidity and structure, the Massolinos know this and treat it just right to get a perfect balance of freshness and firmness without comprimising the drinkability.

This is one of the wines that the family drinks during harvest, because it's quite simply a wine that will go with just about anything you can put on a lunch table.

About Massolino

The Massolino family's history as winegrowers in Serralunga stretches back more than a century.

Founded in 1896 by Giovanni Massolino, the family's heritage is richly intertwined with that of the whole region. They now farm 23 hectares across prime real estate in the Serralunga sub-region, with premium holdings on the famed slopes of Margheria, Parafada and the legendary vineyard Vigna Rionda.

These are wines that, while classic, have continued to evolve over each generation in pursuit of the purest expression of the beloved Nebbiolo grape.

One of the great wine families of Piemonte, the wines are prized in the best cellars and restaurants in the world.

Look out for wonderfully complex Moscatos alongside their traditional red releases.

From The Producer

Vinification and ageing: after 5-7 days of temperature controlled (31-34°C) fermentation in stainless steel, the wine completes the fermenting processes in barriques made of Allier oak, where it ages for about 18 months. This is followed by at least 6 months maturing in the bottle. The wine is released for sale in its second year of maturing.

Note: excellent exposure and very low yields give excellent grapes which make it possible to obtain a wine with considerable complexity. Barbera is a really important grape variety capable of giving remarkable results: with this selection, dedicated to grandfather Giuseppe (“Gisep” in the local dialect), our estate
