About the Wine
Coming from a single family-owned and run vineyard, this is an excellent example of just how joyous Gruner Veltliner can be. Organically farmed grapes and a hands-off sensibility allow the quality and purity of the site to shine through here.
Wild yeast fermentation and ageing in stainless steel. This gives rise to a taut yet lush Gruner; the hallmark white-pepper and herbs, tonic-water like minerality vibe and fresh citrus fruits. Superb drinking and excellent value from a star producer.
About Martin and Anna Arndorfer
From the Kamptal region in Austria, famous for its white wines, comes this husband and wife team. A real passion project in the deepest sense; both Martin and Anna are from winemaking families and essentially grew up in vineyards and cellars.
All of their wines are made from estate fruit from Martin’s family vineyards, which are certified organic. They fly in the face of convention, with their labels often not even listing ‘Kamptal’ as the region so as to retain as much creative control and freedom as possible.
For Martin and Anna wine is life and should be about pure and total joy, not something to be worshipped. However this does not mean they lack focus or detail in their wines, these are piercingly pure and precise. It is clear that the Arndorfer’s understanding of their land and how to get the best out of it is second to none. Wonderful expressions of personality and place these are thoughtful, articulate and soulful drinks.
