About The Wine
Markus Molitor is obsessed with his vines.
He farms a rich tapestry of vineyards from Brauneberg to Traben-Trarbach and along the River Saar. The labour it takes to farm these impossibly steep slopes is a year-round job.
He produces almost exclusively Riesling (with a little Pinot Blanc and Pinot Noir) and his Rieslings are sensational.
The Haus Klosterberg is a wine named for the home estate. It's a piercing, dry, focused Riesling from 60+ year old vines.
The fruit is explosive, the acidity is bracing. It's a delicious glass of Riesling to either drink now or cellar.
About Markus Molitor
Markus Molitor took over his father's winery in the mid-1980s, when in its eighth generation of family ownership.
He approaches winemaking with meticulosity, endeavouring to make wines typical of the Mosel region that are reminiscent of the "golden times" of Mosel Riesling.
He allows the location and environment to reflect within the wine, creating individual and expressive wines. His strict and careful craftsmanship creates wines of the highest qualities, and some of the most beautiful from the region.
