About The Wine
There are more cool, adventurous labels coming out of Georgia than perhaps anywhere else. The Lapati Tetris label is a cracker.
As is the wine - a skin contact release made from the Mtsvane grape, with two weeks of carbonic maceration and then eight months in amphora. But it has a light minerally element that elevates it out of the monolithic tannic Georgian orange wines and into a kind of secondary category of deliciousness.
Savoury, spicy, tropical and exotic, it is mouthful of pleasure, no matter how you stack it.
Lapati is a joint venture between friends Vincent Jullien and Guillaume Gouerou, started in 2015. Vincent, winemaker, and Guillaume, an artist, combined forces to make wine great wine in a natural and sustainable fashion.
They set up their 'marani', or winery, in small house in Kakheti, and strove to make traditional Georgian wines with a slightly French accent... Pet Nat has been one of their successes!
