About The Wine
Federspiel is the middle tier of the Wachau region's unique wine level designations - wines must be 11.5%-12.5% in alcohol, and are a little richer in style, though not as rich as the top level Smaragd.
This a crunchy, peppery and tropical Riesling sourced from several different plots within Domane Wachau. Orchard fruits, some citrus and spice. There is some plushness to the palate but of course the acidity soaks it all up.
About Domane Wachau
Domane Wachau is one of Austria’s most renowned wineries, based in Austria’s most prestigious wine growing region, the Wachau. Steep terraced vineyards along the Danube, a cool, marginal climate and meagre primary rock soils define the wines.
The wine estate was established by Roman Horvath MW and Heinz Frischengruber. Across their range of single vineyard wines, the 'Terrassen' blends and the village wines, a singular beauty and cool acidity shine through. Gruner Veltliner and Riesling are the standout varieties.
Many of these vineyards are world-famous, including Achleiten, Kellerberg and Singerriedel.
