Lovers of this wine, get excited. This is an absolutely stellar release of one of Australia's benchmark Rosés.
The Spinifex Rosé has become one of Australia's benchmark examples over the years and it's easy to see why. Pete Schell treats the wine seriously, intentionally picking the various fruit components from vineyards up to 120 years of age and blending meticulously for his final product.
So much flavour and depth but oh so elegant and impossible to put down. Bandol, eat your heart out. A no-brainer.

Spinifex is one of the undercover jewels of the Barossa Valley, and very much a pioneer of the changing direction of this famous region.
Husband and wife team Peter Schell & Magali Gely have extensive experience in southern France, which proves the inspiration for their unique wines made from predominantly Rhone varietals.
Pete’s wines brought a new sensibility to the region; they were lower in alcohol, concentrated but elegant, and balanced to perfection. He takes the art of blending into the realm of the virtuoso.
There are few wineries who deliver refinement and poise from the Barossa Valley like Spinifex. These are brilliant Barossa wines.

Then 2019 Spinifex Rosé was blended from 11 Barossa Valley vineyards, the youngest 20 years of age, the eldest well over 100. All were hand harvested and the whole bunches cooled over-night prior to crushing. Maceration times were shorter than typical given the very low yields and small berries over the vintage, around 12-20 hours. The musts were allowed to settle prior to racking to their fermentation vessels, mainly stainless steel, with a small proportion going to very old French oak puncheons (500L) and demi-muids (600). Fermentations were carried out by indigenous yeasts and the young wines allowed to rest on yeast lees prior to racking and blending some 6 months after the harvest.
A small portion underwent mall-lactic fermentation.
The varietal composition of the 2019 is a little different to our previous bottling (most notably with Mataro being dominant – by a whisker – and Carignan being included) and was a response to the extraordinary conditions of 2019.
Winter and spring rains were well below average and rainfall during the growing season non-existent, and the season delivered us very reduced yields of small berried, concentrated fruit that matured quickly through the warm, sunny season. We are very pleased with the result. Much more in the vein of Bandol than Cotes de Provence or Coteaux Varois.

Do I have to order in dozens? No, please mix it up! You can order wines in any quantity and variation you like. You can order 1 bottle or 50. We challenge you to make the ultimate mixed pack of wine!
Are there volume discounts? No, our pricing is designed to be the best in market already - no marking up and then discounting down! For very large orders (weddings, etc) we are open to negotiating though. Just give us a call.
Do we price match? Yes, within reason. Everyday low & consistent pricing is something we strongly believe in. We want our customers to feel confident they are always getting the best price. If you see a price lower somewhere else let us know and we'll consider matching it. We'll even retrospectively issue you store credit if you have already purchased from us but you see a lower price somewhere later on. Our price match policy can be seen here.
Can coupons and discounts be stacked? No, only one discount or coupon can be applied to an order at once.
I am trying to add more of a wine to my cart but it won’t let me? This means we are running low on stock of that wine. So for example, if the website will only allow you to add 3 bottles and no more, then that is all we have of that particular wine. The good news is we may be able to order more for you. Just contact us on 02 8376 8775 or hello@differentdrop.com and we'll organise the additional quantity for you.
Does Different Drop have a physical store? No. Just an a warehouse/office. We occasionally do events however, so sign up to our newsletter or follow us on instagram to stay in the loop.
Can I special order a wine you do not sell? If it’s doable, then we’ll make it happen. Just contact us directly via phone, chat or email and we’ll find out for you right away. Please note that in most cases special orders such as these will need to be in full case lots (6 or 12 bottles).
