About the Wine
Tod and Debbie Dexter specialise in Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Their vineyard is an exquisite spot for both varieties to flourish, showing off the best the Peninsula can give.
Their Black Label Pinot Noir is only released in particularly spectacular vintages, and always in limited quantity. The fruit comes from the oldest part of the Dexter vineyard, known for high quality year on year, and 60% of it sees whole bunch fermentation.
The end result is a wine filled with personality - soft and seductive, layers of subtle spice with a beautiful earthiness from the whole bunches. Complex and structured, it's one to ponder, for sure. Simply beautiful stuff.
About Dexter
Those with a penchant for Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Mornington Peninsula will most likely have had a wine by Tod Dexter.
It may have been under the Stonier label, it may have been under Yabby Lake; regardless, it would have been memorable. Dexter is his own.
Tod and his wife Debbie planted this east-west vineyard in Merricks back in 1987 and have been making their own wines from it for over a decade.
