Description

Adelina continue to firm themselves as one of Australia's premier Nebbiolo producers. Beautiful wines like this only enhance this reputation.

This wine comes from the Bowe-Lees vineyard in Woodside, Adelaide Hills. The Nebbiolo vines here were planted between 1998 and 2002 - tragically, this vineyard was lost to the late 2019 Adelaide Hills bushfires, so this wine serves as a legacy for this gorgeous vineyard.

The fruit spent a whopping 95 days resting on skins and went to sleep in old large barrels for just over a year before bottling.

It's a very easy wine to be enchanted by - breezy but with the firm, granitic tannin that is Nebbiolo's signature.

A great example of exceptional Australian Nebbiolo. A limited release, and the final vintage of this wine, so get in quick.

This vineyard was unfortunately lost to the 2019 Adelaide Hills bush fires. This is the last vintages of this wine.
Fruit was hand picked and crushed into fermenter. 95 days on skins. Pressed to large format oak for 15 months.

92 Points - "This is our last goodbye. The Bowe Lees & Loveys (and I always think of Thurston Howell III from Gilligan’s Island here) vineyard (here plantings of ’98 and ’02) was lost to the bushfires late in 2019.
If you’re used to Adelina Nebbiolo, and like it, it’s fair to say this is more of the same. Poached strawberry, dusty spices, mint, some dried flower perfume, and a little nutty with it. Medium-bodied, crisp, but kind of soft too, all red fruits, a little new leather, fine chalk dust tannin, and a general squishy charm and fragrance, some orange peel and amaro flavour in the aftertaste. Always a lovely drink, feathery, charming, delicate, and no change here." - Gary Walsh (The Wine Front)

    Lacking tanin, structure and substance

I'm being generous with 3 stars as I absolutely loved this Nebbiolo last year because despite being light enough to drink in summer it still had beautiful tannins which gave it structure and substance. I immediately purchased 3 of the current vintage only to find it completely lacked what I enjoyed so much last year. Now it's just another light weight Nebbiolo and I have 2 bottles which I'm not at all looking forward to drinking : (

Adelina

Col McBryde and Jen Gardner are Adelina. A pair of smart cookies, each rocking a PhD in microbiology and between them some pretty serious winemaking chops. Together, they have formed one of the Clare Valley's most exciting wineries.

From what was a small operation that began in 2002, slowly but surely the Adelina brand has been picking up steam.

There is a delicacy and purity inherent in every wine they produce. From opulent old vine Shiraz and Mataro, to one of the country's most excellent Nebbiolo and a set of scintillating Rieslings, there is a sense of class and refinement to the whole project. These meticulously crafted, beautifully presented wines are just a joy to drink.

Ordering

We want Different Drop customers to always be getting the best price. If you see a lower price elsewhere, just get in touch and we will sort it out for you. We handle all our price-matching on a case by case basis.

Some things to keep in mind:

  • Retrospective price-matching is available for 30 days after you have purchased from us.
  • The price match cannot be used in conjunction with a coupon or one-off deal we are offering. The idea is for you to get the best price in the market so if that is already achieved through a coupon then we won't price match on top of that.
  • We don't price match clearance or fire sales.
  • We’ll match the listed price as long as it is a legitimate offer and the competing store is actually able to fulfil the order (they have stock or more stock is en route). Essentially we won't price match cheeky vendors listing wines they have no hope of actually getting for you...
  • It must be a publicly listed price. We won't match a price that has been achieved through a coupon/cash-back arrangement, or through a non-advertised offer over the phone or otherwise.
  • It is limited to a reasonable retail quantity.

We'll treat each price match request on its merit and reserve the right to refuse where we deem fit. For example, particularly rare wines, from non-trust-worthy vendors, in circumstances we deem illegitimate or if we feel our policy is being unfairly taken advantage of.

At the end of the day, we'll look after you and use common sense to ensure you're getting the best price, please just don't take the p%$$!

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

We stock three different sized gift boxes (single, three bottle and six), all are available for purchase for a flat rate of $8. They look great and make an awesome impression.

To add a gift box to your order, simply add at checkout. The special requests box is your friend, please give us as many details of what you are looking for and we will try our best, or get in contact to discuss it with you.

If you want to bulk order gifts or if you have any trouble please email hello@differentdrop.com or call and we can try and help.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
