Description

One of Tasmania's most dynamic winemakers in full flight here. An electric release of Pinot Noir that is set to drive the fans of Tasmanian Pinot wild.

The Dr. Edge Tasmanian Pinot Noir is made by Peter Dredge, the winemaker at Meadowbank and one of the finalists for the 2017 Young Gun of Wine Awards.

This wine is made from fruit from across the Apple Isle. Peter has captured the lightness and purity of Tasmanian Pinot Noir beautifully here in the 2017 release.

With 97 points from James Halliday and 95 points from Gary Walsh, this is a rockstar wine from one of Australia's most exciting young producers.

Don't hesitate, allocations are limited.

97 Points - "MV6, 777 and 115 clones, 60% from the Derwent Valley, 30% East Coast and 10% Tamar Valley. The bouquet is multifaceted, with no single message from the single vineyard group, the palate moving onto another tier, but carries with it the higher-toned red fruits of clone 115 (compared to MV6 last year). It also achieves a lightness of touch without any sacrifice of line or length. This is the serious business of enjoyment, not the science of dissecting small pieces of a large puzzle." - James Halliday (Halliday Wine Companion)

95 Points - "I like the complexity of the Tasmania blend, the whole greater than the sum of its parts kind of thing.Spicy, nutty, smoky thing, but the cherry and red fruit rises above, and there's maybe a bit of a cracked wheat thing going on here too, and some rose petal. It's light to medium-bodied, almost chewy in a way, though certainly you might call it 'sinewy', smoked meat, stalks and spice, 'minerally' acidity, and a long finish that offers grip, spice and sour cherry as it moves down the throat. It'a what you might call a very 'adult' style of Pinot Noir, but also very good." - Gary Walsh (The Wine Front)

    Stylish Pinot Noir

Quite Burgundian in style - light to medium bodied and has a bit of structure, but with some lovely Tasmanian fruit. Oh, and made by a top shelf winemaker with plenty of runs on the board.

    Well worth the price

I found the wine superb, even in its youth. I'd spend the money again.

Dr. Edge

Peter Dredge is Dr. Edge. He is one of the most intuitive and talented winemakers on the Apple Isle.

With a wealth of experience garnered at wineries such as Bay of Fires, he has revitalised the Meadowbank label and returned it to its place as one of the must-watch vineyards in Tasmania.

Dr. Edge is his passion project where he can take risks and make Pinot Noir, Chardonnay & Riesling that truly excites him. His creativity can fly under the Dr. Edge banner and wines that walk a fine line of tension, funk and freshness invariably arise.

Only small batches of wine is produced, all made by hand, and typically they sell out in short order. Playful, pleasurable and remarkably thoughtful, the Dr. Edge creations are riveting things to drink and have rightfully earned cult status among collectors of Tasmania's finest.
