If you really like Chardonnay, you really need to taste these wines.

About the Wine
This is made using the Black Chardonnay style - an extremely oxidative method which would make most modern Chardonnay makers blush.
In essence, the juice and must is exposed to air, causing a brown oxidised colour. When put into tanks, though, oxygen consuming phenols take the dark colour and oxidation with them. The result is a powerfully fresh and complex wine, which has time in both oak and stainless steel.
Intense lemon, pear and melon characters come through, with aromatic baking spice and oat biscuit. It's powerful and rich, but also delicately poised. Calling this Very Good White (VGW) simply doesn't do it justice.
About Double Zero Wines
America, much like Australia, suffers from an international stereotype. We know that not all American wines are big monsters, but the very idea that they could be stops people from exploring some of the world's most innovative wine producing regions. 00 Wines is a case in point.
Led by Chris and Kathryn Hermann, 00 Wines seemed to emerge fully formed on the American wine-scape as Willamette Valley's, and America's, authority on Chardonnay.
Together, they source fruit from the Willamette's best sites and vineyards, focusing on a combination of soils and clones. A healthy blend of Old World and New World techniques are employed to push Chardonnay to its very limit, but everything still seems unforced and effortless.
The name, it seems, was well chosen. In numerology, 0 is the absence of limits. Chris and Kathryn just added another 0 for the limitless potential of their brand.
