"It hits the nail on the head with the perfect precision of the bouquet and palate."
- James Halliday (The Weekend Australian)

Only ever released when the vintage is of a high enough quality, the 2011 Grande Vintage is the 12th release of this exceptional wine. With 10 years on lees it's a complex, layered and textual beauty.

A blend of estate-grown, single-vineyard Chardonnay (70%) & Pinot Noir (30%). The fruit comes from a mix of two terroirs: grey gravelly loams over clay and red loam over gravel. At the time of harvest the vineyards were organically managed, in conversion to biodynamic certification.

The base wines go through 100% malolactic conversion and the wine is according to the méthode traditionnelle. The Grande Vintage wines are made to show off the vintage they were grown in, selecting the best parcels of fruit to give freshness, elegance, balance and intensity.

96 points - "A single-vineyard, estate-grown blend of 50/50% chardonnay/pinot noir from the Derwent Valley. Pale in the glass with a fine, energetic bead and mousse. Aromas of crunchy green apple, nashi pear and citrus fruits with hints of brioche, mushroom, white flowers, flint, toast, almond paste, roast chestnuts and meal. Long, savoury and true with a real sense of mineral drive and toasty complexity, finishing very long with a saline, acid cadence. Wonderful drinking." - Dave Brookes (Halliday Wine Companion)

95 points - "A very cold year in these parts, as with most of the country. Great for fizz, as a result, befitting a cuvee that is only released when exceptional. Low dosage (3.8g/L) accentuates the chalky detail. A whooping 11 years on lees and one under cork, delivers toasty breadth and considerable power. Excellent nose of acacia, orange amaro and almond croissant, with a tensile bite across the emphatic finish. An Aussie fizz that really delivers. Drink or hold." - Ned Goodwin MW (JamesSuckling.com)

97 points & Top 100 Wines of the Year - "A 50/50% blend of estate-grown chardonnay and pinot noir, the vineyard certified organic in conversion to biodynamic. It spent 10 years on yeast lees, and has a fine mousse and a golden yellow hue attesting to the age. It hits the nail on the head with the perfect precision of the bouquet and palate."
- James Halliday (The Weekend Australian)
