Ernesto Catena
Ernesto Catena, born and bred in Mendoza and a fourth generation winemaker, seeks to highlight the best grape varieties of Valle de Uco and put them up in lights. He is the son of the great Nicholas Catena who 'wrote the book' on Argentine wine in the 1980's.
He sees himself more an artist than a winemaker, channeling the influences of art, culture and the unique Mendoza altitude and climate into each bottle he creates. Known as the "Wine Poet", Ernesto is one of the leading producers of this remote and breathtaking Argentinian region.
Over time Ernesto and his team designed their organic and biodynamic vineyard and farm as a kind of earth sculpture, to be enjoyed from the sky, much as the ancient Maya and the Inca people planned their cities to be gazed upon by the gods.
