The winemaking fraternity is made up of not a few eccentric souls, and Adi Badenhorst would definitely fall into that category - to quote his website “the property is owned by the baie (very) dynamic and good-looking cousins Hein and Adi Badenhorst.”
Beyond his self-effacing humour, the cousins are 3rd-generation farmers, who have 28ha of dry-grown biologically farmed bush-vines on the farm they purchased in 2008, restoring a neglected cellar from the 1930’s where they produce their wines.
The eschew modern machinery and have a clearly defined vision to make wines in a traditional manner, with as little input as possible. Family is at the heart of what they do, honouring their past, and always looking forward to the future.
