Description

Now in its third release, the Botanic Rosé is fast becoming one of the standouts in Michael Corbett’s Vanguardist range - a wine that shows just how much character and texture a serious rosé can have.

Sourced mainly from the Rende Vineyard in Blewitt Springs, where old Grenache and Syrah vines grow in deep, sandy soils, this is a blend that captures both freshness and depth. The fruit was foot-crushed and cold settled overnight before fermentation in a mix of stainless steel, concrete sphere, and egg - each vessel bringing its own shape and feel to the wine.

The result is dry, savoury and beautifully balanced. You’ll find notes of grapefruit, pomegranate, spice and fine herbs, all bound together by crisp acidity and a gentle, powdery tannin line. It’s bright enough to drink now but has the structure to evolve gracefully with time.

More than just a summer sipper, this has quickly become one of Australia's finest and most complex rosés.

GRENACHE & SYRAH - RENDE VINEYARD, BLEWITT SPRINGS
MOURVEDRE - LENNON VINEYARD, MCLAREN VALE

VINEYARD:
The Rende vineyard boasts an altitude exceeding 200m above sea level. The top soil is pure sand, with clay and red ironstone pockets below the surface. The rejuvenation of this vineyard has seen the return of many plants and animal species. Not all are native, and some more beneficial than others, they do however contribute to creating an ecosystem and profile true to this site.
Lennon Vineyard, located closer to the ocean, sits on grey and red mottled clay giving richness and density to the wine.

VINTAGE OVERVIEW:
The 2026 McLaren Vale vintage was shaped by a cool, wet spring, a warm, dry summer and a cooler, extended finish to harvest. Variable fruit set and low yields contributed to concentrated fruit, while the slower ripening period preserved freshness, balance and varietal definition. The resulting fruit shows excellent flavour, energy and complexity.

HARVEST & VINIFICATION:

Harvest Date: 26th February 2026
Varieties: Grenache (60%), Syrah (20%), Mourvèdre (20%)
Crushing: Foot-crushed as whole bunches before direct press.
Fermentation: Following a night of cold settling, the juice was rough racked and allowed to begin spontaneous fermentation with natural indigenous yeast. Fermentation took place across three vessels: amphora, concrete sphere and stainless steel. Each contributing distinct attributes and character to the wine’s texture and energy.
Post-Fermentation: After full malo-lactic fermentation the wine remained on gross lees for 6 months before the three components were blended and aged on fine lees prior to bottling.
TASTING NOTES:
BOTANIC wines showcase the refinement and complexity of fruit and a clear expression of terroir.

Profile & Structure: Grapefruit, pomegranate and fine herbs lead into a palate of vibrant mineral acidity, delicate fruit and fine tannin. Spontaneous fermentation, extended lees ageing and the combination of amphora, concrete sphere and stainless steel bring energy, texture and depth, while 100% malolactic fermentation contributes further roundness and mouthfeel. The result is a rosé defined by freshness, purity and complexity.

Vanguardist

Vanguardist is an up and coming producer from McLaren Vale started by three friends after many long nights in Hawkes Bay talking about their shared love of wine.

Their mission is to bring premium, authentic, small-batch wines to a market they see as crowded by "overly commercialised wines produced by corporates who take up all the elbow room."

They source very high-quality fruit from great vineyards across South Australia, looking to build wines with texture and vibrancy.

With experienced winemaker Michael Corbett at the helm, the future looks bright for this plucky challenger brand.

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
