Description

Grüner Veltliner from Tasmania is still a relatively rare thing, and Sinapius are probably doing it better than anyone. Their close-planted estate vines in Pipers River give the variety good intensity to go with the Apple Isle's natural freshness, and Linda Morice makes it with the same care and minimal interference that runs through everything in the cellar.

The 2025 was crushed and pressed direct, wild fermented in seasoned large-format oak, full malolactic, matured on full lees, and bottled without fining or filtration. It's a straightforward process on paper, but the result has real depth and texture to it.

There's the classic Grüner character - white pepper, herbaceous lift, some citrus edge - but it's more complex than that. Creamy and savoury at the same time, with good body and a fine, focused finish driven by salinity and freshness. The kind of wine that's easy to drink but has enough going on to keep you thinking.

If you've never tried Tasmanian Grüner, this is the one to start with.

"This is the kind of wine that you’d love to share around among friends and casual wine acquaintances. It’s a bit different, and a lot good."

"A coolness and sense of ‘clean water’ to the wine, with excellent length and general sense of vitality."

94 points - "This is the kind of wine that you’d love to share around among friends and casual wine acquaintances. It’s a bit different, and a lot good. It’s fruity and textural but then it turns savoury, rind-like, peppery and awash with fennel notes. It has tension and balance but it seems fluid and eager. It has a squeak to it. It has pepper and lemon verbena elements. It’s very good." - Campbell Mattinson (The Wine Front)

93 points - "Attractive scents and flavours of green pear, tonic, a little ticklish, briny minerality at the core. A coolness and sense of ‘clean water’ to the wine, with excellent length and general sense of vitality. Nicely played and strong varietal distinction. 93 points, drink now in its delicious vigorous youth." - Mike Bennie (The Wine Front)

Estate grown Grüner Veltliner. Crushed to press, naturally fermented and matured in seasoned large format oak, on full lees. Full malolactic fermentation. Bottled unfined and unfiltered.

Pale straw. Complex nose offering depth and elegance: white nectarine, lemon butter, grapefruit skin, white pepper, rocket/arugula, sliced celery, flint and a hint of malt. A palate filled with intensity and energy, but relishing in its depth and complexity. Dry, with creamy width and savoury textural edges. With lip smacking salinity and a fine, focused finish.

Sinapius

Sinapius is a premium boutique Tasmanian winery started by two young, passionate winemakers.

The couple, Vaughn Dell & Linda Morice, purchased the site when they were only 24-years-old and chose to plant their vines in the Burgundian fashion opting for high-density planting and low-yielding crops. Their small labour of love has budded into one of Tasmania's most exciting viticultural projects.

Vaughn passed away tragically in 2020, however, the Sinapius label continues under the guidance of Linda and the help of some loving friends. The Sinapius wines are of extremely high quality, made in small amounts and showcase their unique patch of dirt with transparency, purity and power.

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
