Description
Green Room has become one of the touchstones for what McLaren Vale Grenache can be when treated with restraint and respect. From 1946-planted, dry-grown vines in Onkaparinga Hills, farmed organically and surrounded by olive and fig trees, it’s a site that naturally delivers concentration without heaviness.
Picked by hand, fermented with a quarter whole bunches, and raised for just a few months in seasoned oak, this 2025 is as bright and lifted as ever. Spice, plum and red berries lead the way, with threads of thyme and white pepper giving a savoury twist. The palate is fine and fresh, almost Pinot-like in its shape, with crunchy red fruits, silky tannins and a subtle mineral grip. At just 11.2% alcohol, it’s feather-light but never simple – the kind of wine that feels as good on a Tuesday night as it does at a long weekend lunch.
Ochota have always made Grenache their own, stripping it back to its essence and letting the vineyard speak. Green Room is that philosophy in action – energetic, fragrant and dangerously drinkable.
Only a small amount made, bottled in clear glass to celebrate the sheer clarity of the fruit.

The release of the Ochota Barrels Green Room is like an annual event for us, we adore this wine. The 2020 is a beautiful wine to drink, juicy and structured with an interesting bit of spice. Super easy. A wine I never want to run out of.
