Description

Jemma & Steve Fielke are making a real name for themselves when it comes to Adelaide Hills Chardonnay, and a version from the cool, elevated Piccadilly Valley subregion seems a natural fit for what they're doing.

The fruit comes from the Swaby Vineyard in the Piccadilly township, a well-regarded site utilised by neighbouring legends in the Hills. The 2025 season was warm and early, which pushed ripeness and weight, but as you'll see when you taste this the vineyard's natural conditions kept things focused and fresh rather than broad.

The winemaking approach is gentle and patient throughout. Whole bunch pressed with no additions, wild ferment, 20% new oak, and no sulphur added until malolactic completed naturally in late spring. Nine months in barrel, then bottled without fining or filtration.

The result is a tighter, more mineral-driven style of Chardonnay compared to the Lenswood, with good line and length and a freshness that runs all the way through. So elegant, so focused, so damn good to drink.  These two really know how to make great Chardonnay!

95 points
"It's very minerally, laced with citrusy acidity, crunch of red apple juice, with flickers of sugared almond, puffs of talc, flinty mineral characters and a chime of sweet spice... Elegant, refined style, done very well."
- Mike Bennie (Halliday Wine Companion)

"It has intensity and concentration but with a tight line of acidity, and a notion of coolness in the fruit profile... Elegant, lifted and fine. Another steal."

95 points - "This is a new one for J&S Fielke, and it’s only fair to make a quick note on how it stacks up against the Lenswood Chardonnay 2025. They are made almost identically, but with different clones and, well, from a different site. As a result, very different wines. Lenswood is definitely richer than Piccadilly Valley. PV is more focused, pure, with less pizzazz. Also, the label image is the same, but the wax on top should be black here.

Things come in abundance in this wine but with certain grace and purity. Red apples, almonds, firm nectarines and oats. It has intensity and concentration but with a tight line of acidity, and a notion of coolness in the fruit profile. Beyond this, there’s a note of shortbread, a whiff of white chocolate and flint, with plenty of balancing bitter citrus. The texture is smooth, peach yoghurt-like, with a tingling ginger spice in the long finish. Elegant, lifted and fine. Another steal." - Kasia Sobiesiak (The Wine Front)

95 points - "This wine comes from the Swaby vineyard, which trainspotters will recognise from the BK Wines stable. This is a more tightly wound offering than the Lenswood from the Fielke family winery. It's very minerally, laced with citrusy acidity, crunch of red apple juice, with flickers of sugared almond, puffs of talc, flinty mineral characters and a chime of sweet spice. It feels quite coiled up, almost racy in a way, but for a lick of juiciness and a slippery apple freshness to finish. Elegant, refined style, done very well." - Mike Bennie (Halliday Wine Companion)

Customer Reviews

The 2025 Piccadilly Valley Chardonnay is from the Swaby Vineyard in the township of Piccadilly. The season was warm, dry and early, leading to powerful, aromatic fruit of fuller weight. The fruit was whole bunch pressed and settled overnight without additions, before barrelling down with solids to 20% new oak for a wild fermentation. No sulfur was added until malo naturally completed in the late spring. This allowed bottling without the need for fining or filtration after 9 months maturation. Diam Closure.

Jemma & Steve Fielke are two names you need to put on your radar.

Born and raised in the Adelaide Hills, the two met while studying Viticulture and Oenology at the University of Adelaide and have since spawned this boutique wine label with big plans on the horizon.

They have planted out parts of Jemma's family property in the Hills to one day make their own estate-grown wines but in the meantime, they are sourcing small parcels from Piccadilly and making some profoundly delicious wines.

The word on the street is these two will be big players in the future of the Hills. Get in now on the ground floor of this exciting emerging project.

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
