Description

Jemma and Steve Fielke are earning a serious reputation in the Adelaide Hills, and this Lenswood Chardonnay sits at the heart of it.

For the 2025 vintage they're drawing from two sites rather than one, adding altitude and clonal diversity to what was already some seriously banging fruit.  The 2025 season was warm, dry and early, pushing ripeness and weight, but the elevation and aspect of both sites kept things in check.

The cellar approach stays the same as it's always been: whole bunch pressed, settled overnight without additions, then wild fermented in 25% new oak with solids included. Malolactic completed naturally in late spring with no sulphur, and the wine was bottled after nine months without fining or filtration.

What you get is a Chardonnay that's richer and more layered than most from the Hills, but with a savoury edge and a line of acidity that keeps it fresh. The fruit weight is generous and ripe, but there's complexity and detail in behind it that makes such a special wine.

Another captivating release of one of the most exciting new Chardonnays on the market in recent years.

96 points
"Perhaps pound for pound one of the country's best value chardonnay wines over the past few years... All this seamless, so perfumed, so inviting, so very, very delicious. An outstanding expression of chardonnay, marching to its own beat and delivering on a promise of character."
- Mike Bennie (Halliday Wine Companion)

"This is concentrated and really impressive; it has verve and power, yet elegance and finesse. It’s a steal, too."

96 points - "Perhaps pound for pound one of the country's best value chardonnay wines over the past few years. So much complexity inherent, a willingness to deliver full layers of fruit flavour in fresh and dried stone fruits, hazy apple juice and green melon; but it's the savoury detail in nougat, vanilla wafer and briny minerality that delivers the uptick. Indeed, a little nod in the direction of white wines of Jura in fino sherry sea spray and nuttiness, that curious, almost sake-like rice-y character and very fresh and penetrating acidity. All this seamless, so perfumed, so inviting, so very, very delicious. An outstanding expression of chardonnay, marching to its own beat and delivering on a promise of character." - Mike Bennie (Halliday Wine Companion)

95 points - "I love those moments when a wine makes scoring easy, i.e. I sniff, I sip, and it’s a no-brainer – boom, 95 points. Here’s one of those wines.

Very expressive start. Perfume leaping out of the glass; with bursts of citrus oils, flint stone, raw cashews, peach blossom, waxy citrus skins, crunchy apples, and a hint of mango swirl. It spills with plenty of flavour, long finish, detail and drive. Citrus and stone fruit set with elements of nutty pastry, almond biscuit perhaps and a dusting of spice, like cinnamon and ginger. This is concentrated and really impressive; it has verve and power, yet elegance and finesse. It’s a steal, too." - Kasia Sobiesiak (The Wine Front)

Customer Reviews

The 2025 Lenswood Chardonnay is from two historic sites. Picked early March, the first site a 40 year old I10V1 vineyard, with an East facing aspect protecting it from the afternoon sun, the second, a higher altitude site coplanted with I10V1, 76, 95 and 277. The season was warm, dry and early, leading to powerful, aromatic fruit of fuller weight. The fruit was whole bunch pressed and settled overnight without additions, before barrelling down with solids to 25% new oak for a wild fermentation. No sulfur was added until malo naturally completed in the late spring. This allowed bottling without the need for fining or filtration after 9 months maturation. Diam Closure.

J&S Fielke

Jemma & Steve Fielke are two names you need to put on your radar.

Born and raised in the Adelaide Hills, the two met while studying Viticulture and Oenology at the University of Adelaide and have since spawned this boutique wine label with big plans on the horizon.

They have planted out parts of Jemma's family property in the Hills to one day make their own estate-grown wines but in the meantime, they are sourcing small parcels from Piccadilly and making some profoundly delicious wines.

The word on the street is these two will be big players in the future of the Hills. Get in now on the ground floor of this exciting emerging project.

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
