Description

While most people think they know exactly what they’re getting with Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, Dog Point has always played a completely different game. Ivan Sutherland and James Healy helped define the region's style decades ago, but under their own label, the focus is entirely on organic farming, hand-picking, and wild ferments.

The 2025 season required serious patience. An exceptional spring led to the best fruit set seen in decades, followed by a long, warm summer that meant a marathon 46-day harvest - their longest in 24 years. This slow ripening has given the wine an incredible architectural frame.

This is a texturally driven, savoury take on the variety, steering well clear of sweet tropical clichés. It opens with restrained elderflower, white peach, and grapefruit, underpinned by the classic Dog Point smoky-flint complexity. The palate is punchy and completely dry, driven by a saline acid backbone and a fine phenolic crunch that makes it feel properly structured. We reckon it easily sits among the best whites coming out of New Zealand.

"A wine that catches you off guard with its familiar waft of candle wax and sparkler flint... It is exquisite in its balance – teetering tropical notes, the fragility of herbal suggestion and an utterly moreish finish."
- Shanteh Wale (Halliday Wine Companion)

97 points - "A wine that catches you off guard with its familiar waft of candle wax and sparkler flint. There’s a wistful white floral aroma of frangipani and freesia drawing you in. As it opens, notes of pomelo, white pear and pineapple emerge. The wine then lights up like fireworks – the soft, sparkling kind – revealing hints of lemonade, yellow melon and a glittering acidity that is carefully bridled. Nuances of celery heart and fresh ginger follow, adding complexity. It is exquisite in its balance – teetering tropical notes, the fragility of herbal suggestion and an utterly moreish finish." - Shanteh Wale (Halliday Wine Companion)

94 points - "Aromas of grapefruit, brine, green olives and limes. Medium- to full-bodied, linear and vibrant, with definition. Restrained exuberance and a touch of salinity in the finish. 100% indigenous yeast fermentation. Impressive handmade wine considering the volume. From organically grown grapes. Drink now. Screw cap." - James Suckling

Our version of the classic dry aromatic style of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. Lovely saline acidity and bright citrus fruit characters burst on the palate, offering refreshment from the first sip. The wine calls for simple fresh seafood but can also be enjoyed as a pre-dinner aperitif.

Grapes are picked from eight of our own vineyards within the Wairau Valley. Cropped at an average of 10 tonnes/hectare. The fruit is whole bunch pressed, cold settled before fermentation and 5 months aging in stainless steel tanks. A portion of this wine is fermented using indigenous yeast. Bottled without fining.

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
