Description

The most classically Barossa wine in the Agricola range. The Hoffman Dallwitz vines in Ebenezer date back to 1888, with some plantings through to 1912 and a smaller parcel from 1996. It's a vineyard with real heritage, and Callum works with it accordingly.

Where the Flaxman Valley wines are about restraint and elevation, Ebenezer is warm, generous and unambiguously Barossa. The difference here is that it's done without the props many have leaned on: no new oak dominating the fruit, no added acid sharpening the edges. Just old vine concentration and honest winemaking, which turns out to be all you need.

Rich, heady and full of character, with a depth and warmth that feels completely of its place. The 2025 dry season has concentrated the fruit and built real tannic structure beneath the generosity. This is a wine that rewards those who appreciate what the Barossa does when it's at its best.

"It delivers on a promise and leaves a groove in the palate, a thick, warm, grippy, slow moving freight train of fuck yeah Barossa shiraz."

94 points - "From the well-loved and well-shared Hoffman Dallwitz vines, a portion from older (1888 to 1912) and some from much younger (1996). This slips into the dictionary alongside Traditional Barossa Shiraz, but in that, of old school, good school styles that eschew new oak as a thumping baseline and leave out the zingy, sherbetty, lemony tongue thump of added acid that came to be for many.

Pure as, rich as here. So meaty and beefy, not like meat and beef, but in the colloquial sense, all the stewed plum with cinnamon sticks, molten dark chocolate, white mushroom, caraway seed pleasing peppery-woody-bitterness as an accent. Very heady in perfume, a fog of the stuff as a compelling invite in. It delivers on a promise and leaves a groove in the palate, a thick, warm, grippy, slow moving freight train of fuck yeah Barossa shiraz." - Mike Bennie (The Wine Front)

2025 was an early and dry harvest, with low yields leading to concentrated flavours and striking natural acidity. With the concentration of flavour and tannin profile these wines are built well for the cellar.

This harvest has seen a new addition of an old vine Flaxman shiraz and riesling site. I had worked with Chris and Anthony Steinert’s vineyard in the past and prior to vintage they asked if I was interested in working with them again. It has been a pleasure to be reacquainted with their 100-year-old, dry grown vines on the hillside of the southern Flaxman Valley.

The resulting shiraz wine from this site expresses a brighter side of Flaxman Valley compared to our elevated rocky hillside at home and Naimanya. These wines seemed to show best on their own, so it was decided to bottle two Flaxman shiraz wines this year: ‘Naimanya & Home’ and then ‘Seeliger’, which is named after the Steinert’s ancestors who planted their vineyard over 100 years ago.

Agricola

Agricola Vintners, led by Callum Powell, marks a new chapter in the Powell family's history in the Barossa Valley. After working alongside his father, Dave Powell of Torbreck, Callum now creates his own legacy, sourcing fruit from family vineyards and renowned sites like Hoffmann.

Callum’s winemaking journey started in childhood and includes valuable experiences in the Rhône Valley with Jean-Louis Chave. This background instills a deep respect for terroir in his work in Barossa and Eden Valleys.

At Agricola Vintners, Callum focuses on Shiraz, using minimal intervention to let the fruit shine. His wines blend grapes from exceptional vineyards, resulting in complex, vibrant flavors without heavy oak influence.

Callum employs 100% whole bunch fermentation and natural processes, maturing wines on gross lees for 12 months. This approach produces bright, expressive wines that capture the essence of the Barossa with a fresh perspective.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
