Description

Sabi Wabi’s Sugi Semillon is a fresh spin on a Hunter classic. Winemaker Peta Kotz lets the wine hang out on skins for two weeks, then leaves it on lees for six months, giving it a bit of extra body, texture, and flavour. It’s Semillon, but with a bit more attitude.

This is a wine that feels good in the glass - powdery tannins, a salty tang, and layers of lemon myrtle, stone fruit pith, and white flowers. It’s picked early to keep things zippy and fresh but still has that savoury, textural depth that makes you want to take another sip. Easy to love, easy to drink, and just that little bit different.

Peta’s all about making wines that are raw, real, and a little offbeat - embracing imperfections and letting the fruit speak for itself. Sugi is exactly that!

    Disappointed

While my Wife loved the wine, I was very disappointed in your response to my photo and complaint about a large piece of ? In one of the bottles. I have been a wine drinker (from Grange down) for many years and I know and understand what fermentation sediment is. For you to pass off what I found as normal just beggars belief. I for one will never buy or recommend your product to anybody.

Sourced from the Brycefield vineyard, located on Lovedale Road amongst gently undulating land in the heart of wine country in New South Wales’ Hunter Valley. Brycefield stands proud in its elevated position overlooking Pokolbin & Lovedale, with sweeping views of the Brokenback Ranges. West facing, planted on sandy loam & farmed sustainably.

Handpicked, destemmed & skin macerated for 2 weeks in stainless steel. Basket pressed & returned to stainless where spontaneous primary fermentation & natural malolactic conversion occurred followed by 6 month maturation on gross lees. Unfined, unfiltered & minimal SO2 added at bottling.
