Description

This is Steve Pannell’s take on dry rosé - light, crisp, and made for the way we eat and drink. It’s mostly Grenache from McLaren Vale, picked early and handled gently to keep things fresh and bright. No bells and whistles, just a clean, dry, quietly moreish wine with a bit of texture and savoury lift.

It’s pale in the glass, but there’s plenty going on underneath - red fruit, a bit of spice, maybe a twist of citrus peel. The finish is dry, with enough grip to hold up to food, though it’s just as easy to enjoy on its own.

It also took out Rosé of the Year in The Real Review’s 2025 awards, which says a lot about how well it’s been put together.

Rosé Wine of the Year AU 2025 Winner
"Stephen is a true master of McLaren Vale grenache. This rosé shows his skill is there whatever the format, producing a wine that speaks of the Vale itself. It will sing when served alongside the local produce or anything you choose: rosé of this calibre is just a delight to drink."

From the Little Branch vineyard, direct-press grenache with 10% grenache gris. This is snappy, sapid, mouth-watering. Watermelon granita, Fuji apple, tart redcurrant, blood orange. There’s also a little earthiness and suggestion of spice. It’s coiled presently, tight and resolutely dry with cranberry skin texture. This was tasted prior to release and, no doubt, the fruit will flex and fill.

The 2024 Arido Grenache Rosé is made from handpicked dry-grown Blewitt Springs Grenache, arguably acting way beyond its "rosé" station. Here, the texture on the palate is chalky and structural, with garden rose and pomegranate, red apple and caper brine. This is a marvelous wine, a very good value and sensational fruit. 13% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.

Very pale, barely there coral pink hue. Raspberry, red peppercorn and Cajun spice aromas. Bright and fresh, crunchy red apple and just-ripe raspberry fruit wrapped in notes of Chinese five spice and ruby grapefruit pith. Acidity keeps it lifted, fresh and precise, driving it long and handing over to a fine tannin grip to finish it dry.
