Description

Paralian’s Grenache Shiraz brings together two of their best vineyards in Blewitt Springs – Marmont for the Grenache, and Springs Hill for the Shiraz. It’s a classic regional blend, made in a way that feels easy and unforced. The Grenache leads with its bright fruit and lift, while the Shiraz brings a bit of weight and spice.

Charlie and Skye keep the winemaking pretty simple here – fermenting each variety separately, picking out the barrels that show the most generosity and drive, and blending them to hit that spot where fruit, freshness and structure all line up. The result is a medium-bodied red with plenty of immediate appeal, but enough depth to take it seriously too.

This is the most open-knit and expressive of the Paralian reds – full of flavour but still balanced, and really well put together.

"Joyously fragrant and supple, redolent of cherry juice, roses in bloom, musk, sumac, cinnamon... a sculpted line of filigreed tannin and vibrant freshness."
- Marcus Ellis (Halliday Wine Companion)

"Quite the exotic spicy perfume... Spanish black olive... a more savoury seaweed character closes out a finish of good length, oomph and chalky tannin."

95 points - "60/40% Marmont vineyard grenache/Paralian-owned Springs Hill vineyard shiraz. The most fruit-forward and 'primal' barrels are selected for this. This is delightfully upper mid-weight, joyously fragrant and supple, redolent of cherry juice, roses in bloom, musk, sumac, cinnamon, the gently creeping darker fruit and spice of shiraz latterly joining the grenache lead, adding a little growl to the purr. It’s just such a joy to drink, a wine of immense immediate attraction, though it also has a sculpted line of filigreed tannin and vibrant freshness. It’s a beautiful thing." - Marcus Ellis (Halliday Wine Companion)

93 points - "Quite the exotic spicy perfume here, cherry and raspberry, Dutch liquorice. It’s medium-bodied, or just above, a juiciness to red and black fruits, Spanish black olive – that flavour and slight metallic tingle – a grainy and sooty grip to tannin, raspberry juice and a more savoury seaweed character closes out a finish of good length, oomph and chalky tannin. Comely and plump now, though likely better with a couple of years on it." - Gary Walsh (The Wine Front)

    Lovely Balance

Such a nice balance between the Grenache and Shiraz. Grenache bringing vibrant floral notes and the Shiraz, long tannins.

A Grenache Shiraz blend comprising 60% Marmont Vineyard Grenache, 40% Springs Hill Vineyard Shiraz.

A combination of varieties that is quintessentially McLaren Vale, an homage to past employers who have proudly championed blends of Grenache and Shiraz for decades.

A barrel selected blend of our two single vineyard wines. The Grenache and Shiraz components were made separately and come blending for this wine we were looking for a wine that offered generosity, freshness of the varieties but also a drive of subtle tannin; a natural life line of preservation.

This wine is always meant to be ‘McLaren Vale’ in a glass, To express what was once known as the ‘middle palate ‘of Australia. Medium weighted with the best of both Marmont Grenaches nuance and grace with Springs Hill Shiraz’s darkness and spice. Always our most generous offering with lashings of primary fruit and just enough tannin to maintain a seriousness throughout.
